I purchased a new home about 8 months ago and hired PillarToPost Home Inspections. I contacted **** from the company twice after I experienced two electrical outlets that were not wired and should have been caught by the inspection. I was reimbursed for those by the PillarToPost.. I paid $6500 for a sewage drainage issue that I did not ask PillorToPost to address which should have also been found in the inspection but now I am looking at a sinking main beam in the home that was also not caught by the inspection company and I want money to help me fix this issue. I contacted **** from PillarToPost about this issue, he replied stating he would come out to look at it but has failed to follow up or reply to my text messages. I asked **** for arbitration to help us resolve this issue but has not file any complaints yet. I am hoping we can resolve this issue at this level. Thank you.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because I do not agree with the information from the company:Dear **** DuPey,
I thank you for your reply but still I have an issue. I referenced the sewage line to state that out of the gate, I had an unforeseen expense and feel that this one item which was pointed out in Exhibit A part 10 section 6.0 Structure -6.2.3 (page *****) should be covered. It states a. Seller will have a licensed contractor replace any cracked/damaged supports. The concrete blocks were replaced with two jacks but nothing was mentioned on the inspection or re-inspection about the main beam needing support near the chimney which I found out later after having another inspection done. My latest inspection showed me that the current issue was within the inspection location of my previous inspection and should have been seen or commented on in the inspection details.
Upon my home inspection and my moving into the house, which was empty at the time of the inspection. I noticed two new outlets that did not work. I called into your office and this is where "****" comes into the story. I called him "****" and he replied each time by that name. I called the number ************ shortly after my moving in and got "****" who first stated it was difficult for an inspector to look at outlets when there is furniture in the way. I replied, the house was empty. "****" or someone else gave me some money back as a refund and apologized. I then called and texted "****" Friday January 6, 2023 at 4:50 pm stating it was ******* Outing in ***********. I then called ************************* at the number ************ on December 26, 2022 to voice my concerns. I called ***** again at the same number on February 8, 2023 at 5:47 pm, left a voicemail message and got a return call from the number ************.
I have been in contact with your company for some time. I have a history of contacting your office and February 8, 2023 is after you stated I last contacted your office. I am not trying to get something I feel I am not due, I am attempting to right a wrong. The inspection missed simple non working outlets inside the home so why would I not think they missed something bigger such as my support beam. I had an electrical issue with the outlet in for the washer machine which I took care as well as an electric issue in the upstairs bathroom which again, I paid for. I know this is not a warranty program but if my inspection would have stated the beam near the chimney needed support, I would have either work that into the sell of the home or would have walked away. I trusted the company to provide a service that I could trust. I am not trying to get windows replaced, I have already replaced them. I am not trying to get roofing work done, had that addressed as well. As you read this, you hopefully see I would have been able to get the beam replaced or repaired if the inspection made reference to the issue.
Thank you,*********************

****,
Did I get a refund for the non working outlets from your company? May I have a copy of this information please. I apologize for repeating the same information to you but for me, there was new information such as the pointing out the beam support near the chimney and stating the dealings I had with your company.Initial Complaint

Prior to purchasing our current home we contracted Pillar to Post to complete a home inspection. When issues arrived post inspection we realized that a complete inspection was not done. Several issues such as window damage, leaks and severe mold onsite were not brought to our attention. When we tried to reach out to Pillar to Post they did not respond. It to many attempts to get the issues looked at and when they finally came out months later they refused to work with us.Business Response

We’re sorry you’ve had a difficult time with your new home. We completed a detailed home inspection of the property, resulting in a 97-page report. We identified over 90 Major Defects in the property. The report included close to 20 references to mold and 7 major issues with windows, including chipped paint and potential leak conditions. Our inspector first heard from you a month after the initial inspection, and the conversation ended with you indicating you would get back to him. When we reconnected two months later, we were at the property the same day. We do everything we can to ensure our clients move into a safe, healthy home. In this situation, we did that by communicating the issues identified both verbally and in writing. If you have any further questions about the details in your report, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

I am rejecting this response because:As stated in previous correspondence. We paid Pillar to Post to complete an inspection of our home. When we discovered several issues not brought to our attention at the completion of the inspection we tried to contact Pillar to Post and were ignored for several months. The main issues that were missed were damage to windows, leakes in the 2nd floor ceiling and severe mold issues. If we had this information we could have negotiated the remediation into the final closing contract. The remediation has cost us thousands of dollars and we are still waiting on an estimate to fix the windows which is expected to significant.

I appreciate Pillar to Post response but as in their other responses it is in accurate. We made several attempts to contact them that went unanswered and when we finally got their attention they were not receptive to our concerns. It is nice that they want me to reach out to them at this time but they are unwilling to help us and they have not responded to the email I sent on March 8,2023.Pillar To Post Home Inspectors - The DuPey Team is NOT a BBB Accredited Business.
