In January of 2024 I used **** Bemhoff's tax agency to file my 2023 tax return. Filing my 2024 taxes I came to find out that he failed to advise me to adjust my W2 forms as to avoid having to pay a steep sum of money for this year's new tax return. When I approached him about his failure to advise me I now have to pay $1,500 for having not paying out enough monthly taxes. He was very unprofessional and told me that as a tax expert that there was no way he could have know how much customers should have to change or prepare their own taxes. He was rude and unappologetic. I beleive he should be responsible for his oversight that I have to pay for.

    Business Response

As a licensed CPA in the State of ************ I am governed by state ethics regulations and client confidentiality which prohibit me from discussing specific client matters with third parties.

Further. Mr. ****** does not even get my name correct on his compliant. Therefore, I would take the position that this complaint is invalid and should be closed.

My firm did not preparer his 2024 tax filing so I cannot speak to the results of this. I believe Mr. ****** is looking to blame someone for his owing federal tax in 2024.

Individual tax filings are subject to many issues year over year, some of which are not recurring, some the taxpayer has control over (ie.. making IRA *************** and others are just plainly beyond the control of the taxpayer (ie.. changes to the federal publish withholding tables)

All clients sign a standard tax engagement letter which clearly spells out our responsibilities for the year we are preparing a tax filing.

as a side note and to complete the information, Mr. ******** new tax return preparer actually worked in my office last year. she is unlicensed in any way, so who knows if his 2024 tax filing is correct.

My position is that Mr. ******** compliant is unfounded. We contracted with my firm to complete his 2023 tax filing, and we provided that service.

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not know who ******* ******* is. I have never spoken with ******* *******. I mentioned in my letter a one **** ******. Maybe, Mr. ******** you're somehow being connected to the wrong business associate that I'm referring to? My accountant has always been and is certified. I'm out $1,500 due to tax preparing negligence due to a worker at Accounting Services Plus in Yardley, **. At the least I should be refunded my tax preparing fee. The refund of my services is just a good faith gesture and overall good business. Mr. ****** and I spoke often last year and someone under him prepared my 2023 taxes. I paid good money to have my taxes be prepared. In all of my years of paying a professional to have taxes prepared I have never owed any money and always received money back. The one year I go with this firm, whom my typical accountant worked briefly under, a different employee prepared my taxes. As a result they didn't advise me to withhold additional monies as my eldest child was aging out for the child tax credit. Many customers have encountered problems similar to mine. Mr. ******** stance was "I don't have to be forward thinking." If a tax firm's profession is the intricacies of basic tax law falls under "forward thinking" thererfore absolving them from any accountability then I believe we live do not share the same values and business/client values.

    Regards,

    **** ******
