Automative Training Center approach students at ***************************************** including me they pressured me to come to this school not realizing it has hidden fees with this school. I found out after I withdrew from the school April 28, 2025 to go to ********************************************* instead for the same program without the hidden fees like Automotive Training Center which is a profit school not only they scammed me they are scamming other students and misleading students into debt, and because I withdrew out of school early they refused to give me my unofficial transcripts to go to community college in the fall saying I still owe a bill that's why they can't release the transcripts. And they tried to use tactics to stop me from leaving the school as well and lied to me mom about withdrawing early while the classes is paid for and then later telling me he owes money.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/16/2025

On April 28, 2025, the school director received an email from the student stating that the student wanted to withdraw from school due to financial reasons and unreliable transportation. The student reported that the distance and cost to commute to school had become a hardship. The school director was out of the office on April 28, 2025, but had asked the career and student services team to meet with the student to gather additional information. The student and the career and student services team met to discuss the students decision to withdraw from school and the barriers he encountered. When any student states they would like to withdraw from school, the schools practice is to have the education and/or career and student services teams attempt to better understand how the student came to this decision. The hope is that the teams can offer alternatives and/or solutions to the students so that they may complete their career training as planned. At times, students feel withdrawing may be the only option, however, the school may assist them in overcoming these challenges. In this case, the team was prepared to offer a rideshare to help with the transportation issue and/or part-time employment opportunities to relieve some of the financial hardship. In addition, the school saw this students abrupt desire to leave school to be unexpected as this student gave no indication of any dissatisfaction or hardship for the 10 months he attended the school. The student had a history of participating at the highest level and earned As and Bs, had consistent attendance therefore learning of this students immediate desire to leave school was unexpected. In addition, when parents demonstrate an involvement in the students training throughout their enrollment, which his mother had, the school includes the students support (parents, guardians, etc.) in these conversations to ensure all outside supporters are aware of these types of decisions.

When a student enrolls in the school, they meet with Financial Aid (FA) for an FA appointment. At this appointment tuition costs are discussed, and the student receives a Financial Aid Budget that outlines their cost per academic year and the financial aid they are eligible to receive to help cover the cost.  This budget is signed by the student and a copy is then given to the student to keep for their records. Budgets are completed with students every academic year while they are actively attending school. Our academic year runs for 960 hours, which is equivalent to 8 months. Therefore, a claim of hidden fees is false as the student is made aware of all charges at 960-hour (8 month) intervals during their enrollment. When the student withdrew, he asked what his current balance was, which was given to him. However, it was explained to the student at that time that after the Return of Title IV funds (R2T4) was completed that his balance could change depending on if any Title IV funds needed to be returned. The R2T4 was completed within 24 hours of notification of his withdraw, and the school was required to return unearned Title IV funds to the Department of Education. The student was contacted and asked to come in to complete an exit interview, which the student declined. The student asked that we mail out his exit paperwork instead. The school complied with the students request and mailed out the exit paperwork certified on April 29,2025.

An unofficial transcript was mailed to the student on April 29, 2025 and an official transcript was mailed to the student on May 1, 2025.
