I hired advanced concrete 4/7/25 for replacing concrete patio, retaining wall repair and decking repair. Stated completion in 10 days. Paid ****** deposit. We agreed to a price then ***** gave us a higher price. The job: Remove and replace the old concrete pool decking and place/ replace drainage around the pool. Concrete/drainage demolished but not removed or replaced. Not performed: repair of the 3 retaining walls, flashing against the house, replace rotten wood on decks/ balcony partially and poorly replaced: crooked, over/under cuts, shims holding support posts, damaged lumber, weather tape not placed on new wood. They damaged most of my original Trex on side deck because they didn't note original placement adding new s**** holes, rough cuts, missing pieces, unevenly replaced, etc! 4x4 posts for railing placed incorrectly, leaving large holes and pieced together sections. Replace front balcony with trex matching side deck, he chose a different product without consulting us. The crew placed the unmatched composite decking, which is covered in scratches, rough cuts, gouges, screws and paint. Damage to threshold in the upper front doorway. I walked ***** around the job site and reviewed all of my concerns asking him to fix everything properly. They removed the "new" decking and cut out the "bad" spots and pieced it back together. Remains incorrect in poor condition. Repair and reconfigure steps not performed. Replace deck railing and fence, not performed. I've given a lot of understanding with excuses, about weather, more rotten wood than expected, illnesses, call offs, equipment issues/ failures, going for supplies on sunny days. After 9 weeks, I gave ***** a final deadline to complete the balcony/side deck. He did not follow through. I asked ***** to refund my deposit, he refused. I need to hire new companies to remove all the poor workmanship and complete this job. It's an additional $7300 just to buy the trex they destroyed.Business Response

My name is ***** Stoutzenburger
I was hired by ******* ******** at ***********************************`s Pa to repair concrete around her pool and front deck for the sum of *********. My price was higher but she said she all ready got a loan, and was crying as she was telling me that, I felt bad for her and lowered it but needed to make some changes. She was all for the changes, she said cheaper is better. She signed the contract and sent me a list of things she wanted me to do. then my first day she asked if I had enough insurance to put in a new driveway if it got damaged. I said to Mr ********* after that comment I didn"t want to do the job, and told her that, and she started to cry again. The lumber that was used was pressure treated, outside lumber ground contact, its not perfect wood, but it"s was is used outside. I installed 9 6x6 to secure her deck 10 ft high. Everything I did is up to code, her exiting deck is 14x25 and totally rotted. I repaired to make it safe, replaced 9 floor joist. re used trex deck boards that she wanted to use to save money i told her they stop making that one so I could not match ,I said i could get close . she was fine with that , untill we installed, she said her OCD would not let that slid she found some in ****** . There was not enough money for that ,at this point I told Mrs. ******** that I would not allow her job to cost me money ,she wanted me to take down around 120 x by 4 foot of retaining wall she did not have enough retaining wall block i would of never matched HER OCD would not of let it her OCD i mentioning was what she keep telling me the job took so long because of rotten wood around her house, we stop are work so she could get another contractor to do that scope of work , then the rain , and her text and calls wanting us working on a deck 10' in the air on wet lumber ,we were working on the deck and her husband came to me and said I should go because she was not going to pay me another dime because we were taking toB
eachtel and her family ,the deck was pulled off her house OVER 6" there is so much rotten wood ,the hole deck needed to be taken down and redone , and i feel she is trying to have someone else pay for it, i was trying to help she told me she had other contractors walk off on her with other projects, in 28 years i have never walk off a job.
Thank You

I am rejecting this response because:
BBB Please ensure my address is not public in ******* response thank you. What I'm learning is... pictures don't lie, but bad contractors do! It's sad that someone can make up stories to fit their narrative. You come to my home and spend time looking at the job I'm requesting. After 28 years of experience, you're unable to properly assess the job. It should have been my first clue. I agreed to hire advanced concrete and secured the funds for a $25,000 job. ***** stated he wanted to come review the original estimate with my husband and myself. While ***** was here, he did not do that but again spent time looking at the job, stating he could save us money. Of course, please do. Only to state a new estimate at a higher price a few days later. I certainly did say this was not right to change the estimate when I've already agreed to hire at the original quoted price and secured funding! Having 28 years of experience, a good contractor would have done his research and determined materials needed along with costs for said materials. A good contractor would've known if a certain material was no longer available and discussed this information with the paying costumer. This was not done. A good contractor would've easily looked and seen all the rotten decking wood they agreed to replace. Which was really accessible and visible. This is why we hired ***** to perform the job! I wanted to reuse my trex decking, which was in good condition and match it to replace the old wooden balcony. This was agreed upon in advance. ***** agreed the right thing to do was to honor the original quote.***** and the entire crew showed up the first day of the job to collect his $12,500 deposit. It was raining heavily, and the temperature was in the 40s. The crew worked as though there were no issues. Somehow, the rain became the main excuse over the next few months as to why there was no crew and no work being done. ***** started stating their was so much rotten wood that he didn't expect it. Finances and how to proceed were never discussed with my husband or I. We expected it, that's why we hired ***** to replace it! ***** used every excuse.... weather issues, sick crew, crew not working with his company, new crew not showing up, equipment failures, vehicle breakdowns, sick, material delivery failures, etc etc. There were many weeks of ***** using a buggy to haul stone up to the back of the property for the concrete he borrowed to delay the job and to delay us figuring out what the real issues were. The buggy he borrowed was not built for hills, l ***** knew this information when it was lent to him. ***** insisted he needed it for other things. Our entire property is in a hill. Every few said ***** would take the cart to our hill and tell us "look it won't go up the hill we'll try again in a few days." ***** used this cart for many weeks as an excuse. We found out later that ***** knew very well that this cart with wheels was not built for hills. Only the cart with treads was built to go up hills.Ive now discovered Advanced concrete has a long history of being sued by customers and companies, dating back his many years. The most recent case a costumer won dates 7/24/2025, this customer won their civil suit. Sadly, I'm just learning this information. ***** will state his company performed jobs they never did. ***** will even take credit for training other contractors he did not train! In ************, we have a customer rights law, and ***** brakes ever one of the rules. He requests more than 1/3 total cost deposot to start a job. He does not provide the required information such as license numbers, insurance info etc ........During the very first encounter, we discussed concerns about damage to my new pool liner he stated he has 2, 1 million dollar policies to cover it if any damage were to come. In fact, from the ************************************, ***** has 1, $300k insurance policy.***** stated the composite decking was the best and stated it was a specialty decking company and said he paid double the amount he actually paid for it. I spoke to the company he purchased it from. It's a contractor supply company, and contractors can go buy almost anything needed to do home improvements. The stories are endless.Again, pictures say everything my words couldn't possibly express. The minimal work done by this crew was so poor. I had given them a chance to show me they could do professional craftsmanship. They failed in every way. The entire job was supposed to take 10 days. During their time at my home (8weeks), there were certainly more than 10 workable days. They "showed up" ************************************** 2. They "worked" a total of about 103 hours. I use the word "worked" loosely because most of the time spent sitting, sleeping, walking in circles, arguing, etc.I've never had a contractor walk off a job. I did have a contractor that I later found out had not completed the agreed upon job. it was plumbing. I had to pay another contractor to complete the work. So certainly, there was hesitation on my behalf hiring any contractor to perform any work.***** agreed to repair my retaining walls, and we discussed me purchasing additional materials as needed. Surfing to the contract, almost 20k was for the concrete portion alone. The other 5k was to fix the retaining walls and rotten wood and put matching Trex on my balcony. This was his quote. After demolition of the concrete and my decking my property has been left a disaster since the beginning of April it's now August. This was supposed to be a job ***** stated would be done in 10 days! When my husband questioned ***** about the lack of progress and missing crew etc. My husband told ***** to stop giving us excuses and get the proper equipment to do our job! Stop making excuses about the crew, bring the crew to do the job! Stop cutting corners and remove the concrete. ***** kept making excuse about how much money it was costing him. It was to expensive to bring his crew. He couldn't afford to take out the rest of the concrete. My husband told ***** he cannot skip random parts of the job because he can't afford it. He never discussed any of this with us the paying customers! He told ***** if you're not able to do the job tell us so we can resolve this and hire a company with a crew that can perform the job. ***** insisted he could do it. This was not true!I've since had multiple contractors in to look at completing this job. Every one of them stated the same issues with the improper work and poor craftsmanship. None of the work done by ***** would pass inspection. I spoke to our Pennsylvania state inspector, who said the best thing to do is have everything removed and start over.

I am rejecting this response because:
I'm not debating this any longer with *****. It's simple! He needed yet another person to syphon money from since he was already in the process of fighting another costumer he let down. Sadly it was me. It's public record anyone can lookup ***** ************** and Advanced Concrete on state and county website legal case search. You can see the long history of legal cases. I have all the pictures, videos, messages etc to backup everything I've stated. Where is his? Regardless of all the lies ***** has stated, the incredibly poor craftsmanship, zero accountability and lack of professionalism is undeniable! Ihad rotten wood that's why i hired him to fix it. All I wanted was to have my job done as agreed! Customers do not hire contractors hoping they will destroy their home to get something free out of them like ***** keeps claiming. As a customer you should ensure the contractor is licensed and insured and verify it with the attorney general. We are hard working people and save our money to improve our homes. ***** knew he was not competent and would never complete the agreed upon job. He just needed money. Hopefully I can save others from the nightmare I've been going through.
