1 starAbsolutely lousy at paying out covered claims. My “In Network” providers have received pre-authorization for covered medical/ dental procedures and still get the run around for payment. I’m tired of spending countless hours on the phone with Cigna customer service reps that can’t understand OR speak proper English. It’s been my experience…the best possible outcome is: nothing! They’ll advise you the pre-authorized, but denied claim may be covered, assure you the bill (your legally responsible for and 4 months past due) will be re-submitted for processing- AND, then: The bill won’t be paid- AND the whole process starts over again. AND, eventually you’ll pay the bill to protect your credit and keep your providers. PATHETIC!!!!Review fromHobart W

1 starThis is the most heartless and rude company in the world. They screw up prescriptions and blame the doctor who blames them. My wife will most likely die from their incompetence.Review fromdevendra s

1 starCIGNA EOB says "Patient does not have to Pay" but Quest keeps on sending surprise bills. Is CIGNA joking with already suffering patient ? CIGNA Customer service do not respond to e-mails, paper mails /fax messages are lost. This leaves leaves already suffering patient with unnecessary stress even though paying high premium through Corporate insurance policy.Review fromAmy S

1 starOne of the worst companies to deal with for claims issues. the fact that I work for a dental office and submit all information require for procedures. They still deny and ask for the very same information that is submitted with the original claim. When calling to inquire the customer service reps are always kind, however they are not who is behind the curtain not paying the claims. first i am told 7-10 days, then 15-20 days, then 30-60 and then 60-90 days for claims corrections and payments. I understand if mis-information or no information on the original claim is given or not given, but when it is a clean claim and it is all a smoke and mirrors answer to delay payment. THAT IS NOT OK! they also deny payment on some procedures stating that is a part of another procedure, which it is not...for example.. a core build up is not always needed with a crown, but if billed on the same day, they deny the payment for the core build up. This company's name should be CIG-NO because that is all they say..No No NoReview fromJon H

1 starYou want to know why there is such a mental health crisis in this country? Because companies like Cigna take your monthly premiums then REFUSE to cover what the Dr prescribes. Then Cigna has the nerve to suggest less costly "alternative" treatment like therapy. I'm sorry, but therapy isn't an option for a chemical imbalance in the brain. It took over a year to get me on the right medication. My old insurance covered it with no issues. But for six months, when employer switched us to Cigna, it's been a nightmare trying their suggested alternatives. Cigna is NOT my DR. But they want to play Dr in order to increase profits by taking monthly premiums and deny deny deny so many treatments. My wife had to completely quit taking a prescription that there is no alternative for and they refuse to cover. And my Dr agrees that the generic form of what I need has too many adverse side effects, yet Cigna still refuses and will only cover the generic form. Look up how much the CEO of Cigna took home in 2021. Profits before delivering on what they claim to do. Unethical and a complete FRAUD! cigna even told me it's policy to reject name brand, even if the Dr orders name brand only, when a generic is available. So now you know why mental health is a rising issue in this country. When companies like Cigna refuse to cover what works, hope is lost.Review fromTravis S

1 starThis company is horrible. They claim to be medical insurance but if you need medical coverage they'll refuse it 9 times our of 10. They approved a surgery for me with the caveat that I fulfill a ton of requirements. I spent 5 months and thousands of dollars out of pocket (because they don't cover anything) and 6 days before the procedure they just changed their minds and decided not to cover it. Now I'm left with no hope for my future as I'll likely never be able to walk unassisted again.Review fromChelsea C

1 starImpossible to get correct information about benefits over the phone. I always try and do my due diligence before medical procedures, finding out CPT codes ahead of time, etc., but so many of my claims end up getting denied due to misleading information provided by representatives. How can they get away with doing business this way? Seems fraudulent!Review fromElla F

1 starORRIBLE. I have had medical insurance through several different organizations (Kaiser, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare). I have never had such a horrible experience with a health insurance company. My husband has a rare disorder that has escalated recently. He is no longer able to work and no longer able to eat. He relies on a feeding tube for nutrition. My plan (which i pay over $300 a month to have) covers enteral formula 100% with prior authorization. Our doctor has sent prior authorization 5 times now and Cigna continues to deny formula coverage. I have spent over 30 hours on the phone with Cigna and get a different answer/ the run around constantly. I have talked to over 10 Cigna employees and no one can help. They continue to deny coverage despite it being a medical necessity and despite my plan details. I was connected with an escalation manager (Lee Turner) who helped me for a day or two then completely stopped responding to calls and emails. I even sent him an email BEGGING for a response. This is not the first employee that has "ghosted" me in the process of "helping" me. I am blown away by how unethical and unprofessional Cigna is. The customer service is non-existent. It is VERY obvious that they do not care about the health or wellbeing of their customers. Why should they? They are one of the most profitable health insurance companies, they dont care if they lose customers. If you are healthy and go to the doctor once a year, Cigna may work out for you. If you have any special health needs at all, plan to go through hell with Cigna. They do not care about you at allReview fromAnnie J.

1 starHorrible company! When I signed up for the Cigna dental insurance, I searched to see if my dentist was with network and he was. I even had to put his Provider ID in before selecting the insurance. However, when I went to set up my account online, I could not find him in the list of in network providers for my plan. After contacting Cigna I was given the runaround by two representatives and ultimately told “I am sorry, but he’s not a provider under your plan.” This is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I would not have chosen Cigna, if my current dentist was not within network. Now, I am essentially paying for coverage that I cannot use; as I am not comfortable using any other dentist. This means that I will have to pay out of pocket for my semiannual cleaningReview fromRosina M

1 starFor several months I have tried to resolve outstanding claims with Cigna Dental. I have spent many hours over several months trying to get these issues resolved. On multiple occasions I am told that a supervisor will call me and that call never comes. At this point I have 5 outstanding claims that date back to November 2021. I am not sure what I am paying for to have dental insurance that does not pay. I have noticed on this site I am not alone in regards to Cigna Dental Claims not being paid.I would appreciate hearing from a supervisor that could assist me in getting this situation rectified.
