Techo-Bloc manufactured pavers with additional iron in the mix which caused a rust staining on the deck within a month of installation. It has been over a year since this was brought to their attention and they are not honoring their warranty for the materials although this issue is clearly covered under their warranty.

I had a 2400 square-foot patio installed. 2000 ft. contains defective stone with an element called pyrite. There is evidence of rust and decay in a number of pavers. I was initially told the entire patio would be replaced and my contractor would be paid. The company changed their mind and decided to send a cleaner out to chemically treat the pavers. I was told the rust stains would be removed. They are not. There is discoloration all over the pavers. The appearance of the pavers are now altered by the chemical product in addition to having rust stains, still embedded in them. I am seeking full refund for the cost of the patio stone.

    To Whom It May Concern,

We are responding to the complaint filed by Ms. ****** ******** regarding her patio at ***********************

As part of our commitment to addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally, a sales representative visited the jobsite to assess the issue. During this visit, the representative mentioned to the homeowner that Techo-Bloc would probably change the product. Its important to note that this was a preliminary proposal made before a final solution had been evaluated and confirmed by management.

Following a thorough assessment by our team, it was determined that there was a very simple and highly effective solution available to address the ferrous mineral spots on the pavers. This ideal cleaning method not only restored the visual appearance of the surface but also offered the benefit of being non-invasive, causing no disruption to the property.

We moved forward with the recommended cleaning process, and all ferrous mineral spots were successfully removed. The homeowners current concern appears to be based on the initial suggestion that the product might be replaced. However, upon professional evaluation and with the issue now fully resolved, we believe the request to replace the pavers is unnecessary. The original concern has been addressed in full through appropriate cleaning.

Please see the attached photos below, which show the condition of the patio before and following the completed work.

    Sincerely,

    ******* **********

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: 23327735

I am rejecting this response because:

Techo-Bloc owner ******* ************ response regarding my patio concerns, misrepresents what transpired.  A full patio replacement was discussed with district manager, ***** ***** in the fall of 2024.  I have documentation of messages establishing a payment arrangement and material exchange timeline for March/April 2025. Unfortunately, due to Mr. ****** departure from the company, the replacement plans were rescinded, and the arrangement was no longer honored. While Techo-Bloc representatives did attempt to treat the rust stains on my patio, significant staining remains, with evidence of both enhanced old stains and new rust stains continuing to appear. Additionally, the paver material shows areas of chipping and degradation where rust has compromised the material.
The treatment product Techo-Bloc applied has created an additional problem -visible white spots appearing when it rains due to the waterproof sealant in the product. This altering effect was undisclosed to me when the treatment was proposed. When I reported this issue, I was simply advised to seal the patio, which isn't feasible given the extensive rust staining. I have invested over $40,000 in the materials alone on my ***** square foot patio, with total costs approaching $100,000 including labor, only to be left with a defective product containing pyrite contamination. At this point, I am no longer requesting a replacement but believe I deserve a refund for the defective material.  I am extremely disappointed with the company's lack of honor and integrity in addressing my concerns.  I do not feel a customer should spend full price on an item considered luxury with defective properties that are unresolvable.

Pictures taken 6/3/25 attached after said solution to problem had been made.

    Regards,

    ****** ********

We installed over $300k in techo-bloc travertina raw pavers. When we called the customer support team to ask if its acceptable to power wash this outdoor product as it needs to be maintained and cleaned with a Powerwasher with an attachment for pavers they stated that would be fine. I asked repeatedly if this would damage the pavers and the customer service agent stated no we have clients power wash all the times. Once the pavers dried which takes hours to fully dry we were completely shocked to see the top coat of the pavers were completely damaged. We contacted Techo-bloc immediately and **** the sales representative came out and provided zero resolution. He stated although the customer service representative from tech-bloc stated it would be fine to clean the pavers in this manner after asking repeatedly it still voided the manufacturers warranty. This company has given zero resolution on how to help this situation and we are now stuck with pavers that we paid a premium for that look absolutely horrible! These are outdoor pavers that they state can be power washed but now are telling me it has now voided the warranty and are providing us absolutely no resolution or help with. Im completely appalled by the company and their lack of response or resolution. How can a representative tell a customer that it would be fine to do something and then when the product is damaged claim the warranty is void!

    *******************,

As discussed in March, we understand your frustration and are truly sorry you feel we have given zero resolution regarding your claim.Client Support is our priority at Techo-Bloc and our team goes over and above to ensure customers are well educated and have the right resources to maintain their investment.  In our Care Guide, it clearly states that improper use of a power washer can void your warranty, it also gives instructions on how to properly use one. Here is the link: ************************************************************************. Unfortunately, what you are experiencing is not a manufacture defect, it simply means the use of a pressure washer altered the surface of the product.  With that said, is unfair to blame Techo-Bloc and/or its employees for what occurred and cannot be held responsible. We are available for any other questions you may have and hope you can see that we certainly understand and are sympathetic to the situation you are in.
