I was a patient of this rehab rehabilitation center. Towards the end of the original allotted weeks for my injury, my family and I had decided to appeal the insurances decision to end my stay because I was not physically able to leave. We had won 2 appeals before I was able to leave and return to my home. Never once had I signed any papers or had any acknowledgement from staff that those extended days would require payment directly to them and not just the insurance payment they would receive. I have not heard or received any notices from them since I was released. On May 28th, the business office manager reached out to my daughter who handles my care and proceeded to tell her I owe them over $2000 for the extended stay days. My daughter explained to them numerous time that this was news to her and I and that we were never informed that this was practice, we never received any notice and we never signed or agreed to that kind of payment. Now they are sending letters threatening legal action if the debt is not paid. I am a retired widow on a fixed income living with severe Parkinsons disease which requires daily medications and care that consumes most of my monthly income. The deceit tactics they have used are despicable to say the least. I am taking my own legal actions to prevent this debt from trying to be attached to my name. I want everyone to be caution with this company for fear they may be deceitful to other elderly individuals that do not have anyone caring for them like my daughter does to me. They have never once had me sign anything or any verbal acknowledgment from me to have this payment attached to me. The one and only letter I have received from them is the legal implication letter I will attach.
