    On November 27th, 2023 my new fireplace (gas) had an electrical fire. I took delivery of the home in late June 2023. Thankfully the circuit breaker popped and the fire was contained to the fire box. It was discovered that the venting for the fireplace was leaking water into the firebox that made contact with the electrical controller causing it to short out, arc and catch the plastic on fire. Thankfully away from the gas line. Upon contacting Halligans who sold the fireplace, it took them nearly a week to come to my house to investigate. The owner of Halligans was the one who came and was there for about 90 secs; looked at the fireplace and the vent and said he had never seen this before. Then told me hed be back in touch. After a week went by I reached out again. I was told that this would not be covered under warranty and if I wanted it fixed I had to cut him a check for $1000 to get started. I asked why i would pay anything as it was the venting that he installed that caused the fireplace he sold me to catch fire and break. He insisted he was not covering anything and if I wanted it fixed to pay him first. He could not tell me what parts were needed nor when his installer could fix it. Since then I have weekly tried to get him to come fix my fireplace which I had to ask an electrician to unwire to be safe for my family. *****, the owner of Halligans, refuses to do any work without payment and has now told me he never promised a warranty at all. I have a second fireplace from Halligans as well that is broken too. Fortunately its just the lights in the fireplace but he is refusing to fix this as well.
