I got an apartment in May of 2021. We gave a $900 security deposit. The please was for 1 year. On June 25, I sent an email advising Ive seen cockroaches. I continue to pay rent July, August, and September. According to PA fair housing act laws, which I did advise them of. I had the right to withhold rent after 30 days of an inhabitable situation not being fixed. The situation was 1000% inhabitable due to the fact that there was, nests of cockroaches 20 to 40. They had the company ****** come out to spray. The guy advised that the two apartments beside and above me were evicted from being so dirty and the cockroaches probably came from there. The company continuously blamed me, even though Im very clean from past army serviced. Starting October I had held the rent. I asked for compensation and advise of the laws. Nothing was solved. November it was the same thing so advise them. I wanted to break the lease. They allowed me to break the lease. I advised I didnt owe them anything because of the circumstances of violating PA for housing act laws. They kept my security deposit when I moved out within the first two weeks of December. And then they also sent me to collections for $2000. As a 22-year-old this has destroyed my credit and they will do nothing to fix it. They have been very snotty and, I have all of the emails from the whole entire incident and all pictures and videos of all of the cockroaches. I lived in an inhabitable apartment, realistically the whole time, but only to my knowledge for 6 months. I paid three out of six of those months. According to the contract, which did not include cockroaches in according to PA fair housing at laws, I owed them not a *****. I dont even know how they were able to sell it to collections. Please please someone help me. This is very injustice, they have taken advantage of an 18-year-old who was in the army getting her first apartment. Ive never dealt with such disrespect from a company either.

****** moved into Strathmeade Square on May 6, 2021.

The apartment was freshly painted with brand new flooring in the kitchen.

Strathmeade Square is in a contract with ****** pest control and treats the property once a month. No other resident had any pest issues from May 2021 through December 2021.

In July of 2021, we received an NSF check from Aminah.

September 2021, ****** asked to break the lease and she requested that we use her Security Deposit to cover November 2021 rent.

The move out report shows that the unit was notable dirty for only living their six months.

Aminah vacated the apartment on 12/13/2021 with a ledger balance of $2,084.33.

     Complaint: 21609147

I am rejecting this response because:

You are lying on this documentation and I have proof in the attachments  BBBZ I highly suggest you look at them.

attached I have the date of the email which shows when I initially have found the cockroach infestation. Its marked as June 25, 2021. Then in the other screenshot is the email that I sent about actually breaking the lease since they did not want to compromise on any kind of reimbursement from me paying rent every single month during an infestation. That email is dated as November 18, 2021. I would like to request these documentations showing where you guys have noted on there that it was that the problem started and that it was September that I emailed you. I would love to see all this documentation.

I think its bizarre that we live in a country where you guys cant look as simple documentation that you asked me to submit. I literally will submit again. This attachment shows the date as it being November 2021 towards the end of the month where I finally said after months and months of struggling for you to take care of this ongoing problem, regardless of what it was from. Then I asked to break the lease. It was not in September. It was after I emailed you June 23 of 2021 about this problem. My apartment was clean and I had videos of it. The only thing that I couldve ever have left dirty was maybe the carpet wasnt in perfect shape.  Even if you guys want to keep the security deposit whatever. But Im not going to sit here and say that I owe you guys $2000. You had an infestation going on for months and months. According to the PA fair housing at laws I did not have to pay rent after 30 days. I did for an extra two days. If this doesnt get resolved, I will take legal action to get you in court and I dont see any judge seeing these pictures with the dates or the emails upon what I requested, ruling in your favor.  If you search up Strathmere apartments on ******* go look at the comments and reviews BBB. Everyone said that they had such an issue getting their security deposit back and everyone said that they had mice and cockroaches. Simply go look at what multiple people have posted and get in contact with them. This company has the worst business practices ever ever and I will lose all hope for BBB if they do not do something about this.
