A few weeks ago we had rain during the night and discovered in the morning that the roof leaked in the master bedroom bathroom. We contacted a local roofing company to come and see what could be done to repair the leak. He came and inspected the area of the leak as well as looked over the rest of the roof and took photos. I can't climb ladders due to medical condition but from what he showed me, the roof looked like h*** He also indicated that the work that was done in April 2024 was not a professional job nor up to Oregon code. We contacted the "company" who replaced the roof in April 2024 and asked us to send them photos of the roof which we did numerous times to the address he previously provided us. He indicated that he did not receive them even though we did not receive any feedback saying the emails were undeliverable. Sent the photos via text and pointed out the discrepencies. When prompted if he was going to do repair work, he then pointed out that he never said they were professionals. even though they did say "they stand behind their work" and that any other roofer we spoke to was out to get their business and say anything to do so. Bottom line they were not going to do the work. We are in the process of selling the place so any issues that come up with the roof, the new owners may very well take them to small claims court for the $10,000.00 Since then we had the area of the leak repaired by a professional.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/06/2025

I openly and blaintanly offered to go there to do literally whatever they wanted me to. Regardless of how absurd it may have been.

There are so many things about this complaint that are inaccurate to say the least.

The company that is evaluating the work that was done obviously hasn't the slightest clue on what industry standards are if there suggesting vent flashing could fly off in the fucken wind. It is literally forced down around a pvc pipe then glued and nailed at tbe top side.

All of the vents on a roof only get secured on the top halves (as manufacturer call for) securing into the lower sides of the vents would leave nails exposed to the elements. And voids all product warranties.

The vent pipe that was installed upside down was a mistake on my part for not noticing it upon completion.

Of all the pictures that were provided not one of them showed evidence of a water leak.

Also the inspection report says the underlayment that was used wasnt ice barrier?  Id love to know how that conclusion was drawn. Because there wasnt any felt used at all I used the top grade synthetic underlayment across the entire roof.

Additionally it was by request that all of the original hardware was reused to cut down on costs. The skylight was never removed or altered in any way. So IF it DID leak it wasnt the new roof that caused it.

This roof was done a little more than 15 months ago. And it is about middle of the summer just got done with this region's honest time of the year. And their roof just now started leaking.

Thats all completely besides the point of the matter. With or without a leak I said I would come  back out. Multiple times! I told them that on the phone as well as in a text message.

I gave up trying to communicate with them because they refused to hear what I had to say nor would they give me the information I needed in order to return to their house.

And the email address they allegedly sent the photos to was not my email address. It was close to mine but the s at the end of ******* was not there so that is the reason I never received the pictures they supposedly sent to me.

I always stand behind my work. To almost any extent but given the circumstances I cant figure out how im supposed to when the option just isnt there.

I hope everyone reading this has a great rest of their day.

    Sincerely,

    ******* L ****** Jr.
