I hired Deck Works to build a back deck and front porch with a metal tin roof. The wood used to build the support for the tin roof is in poor condition and the roof itself is not done properly. Water is leaking. In Addition, he broke a stone step at my house when he was sawing wood on it. I told Deck Works about these issues and other issues. He came out and put a strip of tape on the top of the tin roof, which is not any kind of suitable repair and used adhesive to try to put my stone back together, which is bad looking and also will not last to hold the stone together.

I would like a professional stone repair company to come out and fix it at Deck Works cost, and I would like the front porch as far as the roof and wood underneath supporting it repaired.

If they are not willing to repair, I would like the $3000 back that I paid for the roof so I can have someone else come in and replace the wood and make the roof in good condition so that it is not leaking. Thank you.

We would be willing to refund the customer $3000 to make any necessary repairs they deem required.  Upon acceptance of the settlement, the customer thereby agrees that no more complaints can be made publicly or litigiously.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

I am still attempting to get quotes to fix the stone steps. It is not easy to get. I do not know what that will cost so I cannot accept any settlement right now.

When I entered this, I asked for $3000 reimbursement on the roof and payment for repair of the steps. (Repair and reimbursement).

Let me know if I need to close this out and enter a new complaint once I have a quote.

Also, I am still not satisfied with the front steps, which the last step is too steep. Not sure what can be done about that...

I received an estimate to fix the stone steps. The amount is $1500.

Also, the front porch roof needs to be redone. We paid $3000 for that.

And, The front steps are not to code. I had them looked at by a construction engineer. There should be three steps and not just two. The bottom step is 11 inches in height. That is unacceptable and very difficult to go up and down. Based on prior quotes from other contractors, the quoted amount ranged from $2000 to $4000 for the front steps.

To settle this issue in its entirety, I would like $7,500.00.

      Thank you.

The business stated they are not willing to go that high. However, they did not state what they are willing to do in terms of the steps and roof.

Hope you had a good holiday as well.
Well, I would like him to up the amount. He offered 3000 before he even knew what it would cost to fix the steps.  So he wasn’t really negotiating based on what he damaged (the steps), and the poor workmanship of the roof .

So I guess I have to decide if 3000 can cover what needs to be done.

What I expected him to do after I asked for 7500 was to negotiate from what he had originally offered. But he did not.

How soon do you need to know?

      Thanks,

I did not see a business response. Wasn’t sure what to do so I chose reject business response.

I would like the $3000 I paid for this horrible roof to be refunded and I would like  $1500 to pay to fix the steps which he broke.

I am unhappy with other things such as the front porch steps, but I will let that go. So I’m looking for $4500. No less. This is not unreasonable, considering I am going to have to take the roof down and have it redone since it leaks, and the wood is in terrible shape. Also, I should not be left with a shabbily patched step when my steps were in good order.

The business stated that they are working diligently in this matter. I would like to know exactly how. I haven’t heard from them. I’ve received no new offer. They haven’t offered to fix anything. This is a non response.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as to the roof and front step.

I just noticed that the back deck may have an issue. The vertical piece of wood is a little bit higher than the other horizontal pieces and it looks like the horizontal pieces are dipping a little bit. Is the business willing to go look at this and let me know what the issue is ?
