On July 28, 2023, I was talking to a sales clerk at Home Depot about a deck (over the garage ceiling}, leak problem and that I was having trouble finding someone who had the expertise to find it and fix it. Just then "Bud" Campbell walked up and the salesman said, "Well this is the guy that could help you, (as if he had worked with Bud before and knew him and his work). So he asked me to describe it , I did, whereupon he very confidently stated that he could fix it. He came out to the house, inspected the problem, and said he knew what to do and what he would need. He asked me for $1,200 for "materials that had to be ordered". I paid him the next day. He said it would take a week for the materials to get to the store. Then, over the summer and fall he would show up two times and work less than an hour each time. I would look for what they did after they left and could see nothing. After a month, I started calling at least once a week asking for an update. The only comment I made at the time was that he must have taken a big job in front of mine. I would ask when he was coming back and he would say, "In an hour, or tomorrow, or next week" and then not show up. He told me this 9, (yes, after a batch of times I started a tally) times and never showed. I quit calling in the winter but called a week ago and asked for my money back and he said he would drop it off and, of course, hasn't. I think I have been pleasant and MORE than patient. I am an elderly woman living alone as my husband is in Assisted living. And, like many, I have been duped. I have the cancelled $1,200 check written against Huntington Bank and it states "for supplies on deck/drain repair" .
