A drunk woman verbally accosted my young son. She was drunk & aggressive & the manager, ***** refused to escort her out or do anything about it. I understand not wanting to get involved with drunk and disorderly people, but it is unprofessional and not safe for the general manager of an establishment that serves liquor to not do anything about a drunken person that yells at a child at a family amusement park. There should be zero tolerance, or zero liquor license.

    To Whom It May Concern:

    As President and Owner (44
years) of Swings-N-Things Fun Park, I am responding to the complaint made by
******* ***** .  This person wrote an email to me yesterday
(Sunday, Aug. 25th) which I immediately responded to in
which she left out several key points (touched the child of the alleged “drunk”
lady, who was autistic).  There are several allegations in
her complaint that upon receipt of her email, I stopped what I was doing and
thoroughly investigated each one.  The following were my findings which I
    presented to her:

    First,
we had three different Management Staff speak to this “alleged” drunk lady
and each one said independently that she was not intoxicated.  They
were close enough to smell her breath, and she spoke clearly without a
    slur, etc.

    One of
my Managers witnessed Ms. ***** touching and turning the autistic child
around toward his mother (“drunken” lady) and saying, “See your drunken
mother” or something to that effect.  In *** ******s response to me
she halfheartedly denied touching the child, but my manager remains
    absolutely sure that she did.

    This
incident started when Ms. ***** went up to my GM, ***** ******, who was
working as the Track Manager and accused the child of the “drunken lady”
of crashing into her child while on the track.  Like many such
incidents, it gets confusing with the “back and forth” accusations (see
emails).  She wanted my GM to kick the child and the “drunken lady”
out of the park.  None of our track attendants saw the collision she
alleged and obviously could not kick anybody out of the park for something
they did not see and as noted above, there was absolutely no evidence that
the other lady was intoxicated.  It would appear that her frustration
with our GM was that he would not do what she wanted.

    It
should be noted that ***** ****** has been with me at Swings-N-Things for
over 30 years and is regarded as one of the best GMs in our
industry.  We have been told we have the best Guest Safety Record in
our industry and as such do not permit any reckless or dangerous driving
while on our track.  I have been the “unofficial” Safety Expert of
the Family Entertainment Industry serving as an Accident Investigator and
Expert Witness for over 20 years.  We have written most of the
Concession Go-Kart Safety Standards, Regulations, Attendant Training
Manuals, etc. at Swings-N-Things.  Our park was recently named, “The
Greatest Fun Park in the World.” by the national TV Show “World’s
Greatest.”  This was an unsolicited award.  I could list many more
accolades that we have received over the years, but the bottom line is
that we are a family-owned and operated business for nearly 44 years and
do our best to be fair in all our dealings with our guests.  Lastly,
we are proud of our record with the BBB – I can’t remember the last
complaint registered against us.  The few complaints that have been
registered over our long span in business have been dismissed as frivolous
    or false.
