I met Jason P***** 6/6/to discuss him constructing a patio.Prior to meeting, he said it was a difficult structure & he needed to pull in his architect..We exchanged many texts w/ images with construction style ideas. He returned 6/19 with the artchitect who took measurements & photos. With the understanding that we were moving forward with Mason Exteriors for the project, the architect advised cost to create the design was $2500.On7/10 Jason returned & obtained additional measurements to provide the architect for his design.Late July, the architect let me know his fee was going to be $3000 due to the complexity & an additional $700 because he needed a structural engineer to approve the plans for the permits to be pulled.Jason text me on 7/21 advising the plans should be complete enough for him to begin moving forward. He have me a quote at that time valid through 8/13 for $80,900.00.I received the final plans from the architect on 7/24 -sent to me by Jason. We exchanged additional texts w/ design details. On 8/5 I messaged Jason because I hadn't heard from him.He said he had to take unexpected time off, and he would call me by 8/7.I received the invoice for the plans on 8/8 for $4000, which was slightly more than I had understood. I wrote the check for $4000 directly to the architect on 8/1 but held the check to mail because I wanted an invoice showing it was $1000 instead of $700. I conceded to the additional $300 to move forward & the architect wanted to be paid- he provided me the invoice on 8/5. The text exchange with Jason on 8/5 is the last communication I received..I made numerous calls, sent several emails with no response. I visited his home address as listed on the estimate he provided & left a written letter asking him to please contact me. A neighbor told me he still lives there. No response. The architect told me he was not returning his calls either. While I didn't pay Jason directly, I incurred this cost at his direction to move forward.
