My family and I drove about 30 mins to American firework on June 17th. We had gift cards that we brought from Groupon and also a Father’s Day special discount deal that the American firework company provided. We weren’t able to complete our transaction because they told us that we couldn’t stack deals, saying that the gift cards from Groupon was consider a deal. But they were gift cards that hold real money value in them and is treated like a debit card. So I don’t understand why they won’t take my gift card and the Father’s Day special deal since the gift card is a gift card and the Father’s Day special deal is a deal. They are two different things.

      Dear ******,

Attached are the two possible Groupons the customer could have provided, as well as the store coupon that she wanted to use in the same transaction.

We have 2 similar Groupons available for purchase, and each of them clearly state in the “Fine Print” section on Groupon that they may not be combined with any other offers.

$25 or $50 voucher “Fine Print”: “Limit 3 per person. Limit 1 per visit. Must use promotional value in 1 visit. Valid only for option purchased. Groupon may not be combined with any other offers, such as buy one, get one. Only 1 Groupon per purchase valid at checkout.”
$25 or $50 value “Fine Print”: “Voucher may not be combined with buy one, get one. Only one voucher per purchase valid at checkout. Limit 3 per person. Limit 1 per visit. Must use promotional value in 1 visit(s). Valid only for option purchased. Not valid with other offers or promotions."

The “Father’s Day Coupon 2023” that the customer wanted to use also states: “This Coupon isn’t Valid with Any Other Coupon/Deal.”

When the customer came in, we explained the fine print on both the Groupon and the coupon.  Since our store policy and the coupons do not combine coupons/discounts/deals, we offered to make an exception this one time to do multiple transactions to allow the customer to use both in one visit. Even after the explanation and possible solution, the customer called the local authorities to come on site, in an effort to force us to change our policies. After the authorities understood the situation and store policies, they attempted to reiterate and explain them to the customer and that they could not force us to change our company policy. At that point in time, the authorities gave her the opportunity to make the purchases with the exception we provided her. The customer chose not to make a purchase in store and was asked to vacate the property, as it was 40 minutes after the store had been closed.

There will not be a store credit, refund, or exchange option, as this policy was clearly stated and interpreted prior to any transactions in our store. Furthermore, as we were gathering the attachments, we found that all the Groupons in the customer's name have since been redeemed. Therefore, the customer already made the purchases using the Groupons.

      Thank you for your time,

      ***** *****
