I purchased a 26,000 dollar stone for an engagement ring for my wife. went in, hand picked the stone, picked the setting. had the ring made. I got my certification for having a perfect stone, appraisal, etc stating perfect stone. well my wife left me and left the ring behind so I start going around trying to sell the ring. little did I know the stone was chipped..... and the first jeweler said it was done during setting. from their I went to Dunkins and they told me that there is no way to prove anything. I took it to another licensed gemologist and he again said it was done during setting of the stone. corporate manager initially called me one day and said "yeah with that chip we just aren't interested" I called into the store and spoke to a manager and told her everything ive learned and still no resolution. ignoring the fact I had licensed gemologists look at it. I went a step above and even got a THIRD opinion.. same result. Dunkin had me take the ring in to have their lady look at it.... naturally she said that there's no way to prove. so 3/4 people say its a defect from them and they won't acknowledge. I want my money back. plus 10,000 because of the lies, deceit and treatment ive incurred ov4er the past several weeks. they say they will replace the stone. but when I was in there they tried to get me to talk to a purchaser who said they can get that same stone for 3,000 dollars and they think thats what I want??? I paid 30,000 for a defective ring. I never would have purchased knowing it was damaged and basically worthless.....

We understand the client is not happy with the diamond he purchased nearly a year ago due to a chip that has been discovered in the last 30 days.

We also understand from the client he is going through a divorce and requesting a full refund plus $10,000 in damages.  While we cannot refund him for his purchase last year or offer any additional funds we are offering to provide him with a brand new diamond of the same color and clarity grade as he purchased last year.  We are happy to bring in multiple diamonds for our client to select from to ensure his satisfaction.  Our return policy is exchange only within 30 days and I have attached this to our response.

We do hear and respect his opinion and the opinions of our direct competition.  A chip in the diamond has been identified and the opinions of our competition is that it was chipped during setting.  As a result, we are offering to replace the diamond despite this going outside of our 30 day exchange window.  He can facilitate this transaction at any one of our locations in Ohio or Florida.

It appears we are at in impasse. I’m getting paper work from ***** ****** at the gold center. Also the divorce has nothing to do with this and if you’re going to use that as leverage we can go there. I’ve spoken to an attorney and I have multiple parties willing to speak on this matter. How dare you as a company  think it’s appropriate to bring something like this into a case that’s about a diamond and a ring that was purchased from your company. Again. This policy was null and void the moment I left with a broken stone.
