Matt S**** and New Leaf Landscape and Construction cost us a little over $13,000 out of pocket because he did not honor his commitments or our contract. We saved up for a long time to do this large landscape project and to lose that much money was devastating. We would sincerely recommend that no one use him (whether he stays with New Leaf or starts a new company under a different name). Matt was a nice guy and we chose him for our residential job because he was a local small business owner and he got back to us right away with a fair price. But once we signed a contract it all fell apart. We ordered trees in April 2021 but he did not install them until November of that year. We were in limbo that entire time and had to delay several other things because of his ever-changing timelines. Ultimately he could not get the trees he promised us. Eventually in November 2021 he installed 46 large trees in our backyard. His contract with us included a 1 year guarantee. By March 2022 half of them were completely dead. I tried to contact Matt numerous times between March-June 2022. We were once again in limbo that entire time. When he finally contacted me back he gave me a sob story about his failing business, broken vehicles, and not having dependable workers to support him. He did not have the money to support his 1 year guarantee and replace our dead trees. We had to find and pay a new company ~$5,000 to remove the dead trees and move/replant the remaining trees to try and save them. Out of 46 trees they were only able to save 28 of them. When they were done we had to use our vacation week to physically put our backyard back together ourselves. This loss of time, money and trust was devastating. Matt was impossible to get in touch with, he didn't honor his commitment or contract with us, and he made us lose faith in humanity. I've never submitted a bad review of any company before but this one compelled me to do so. I hope it saves someone else from being taken advantage of.
