    Description:
Constituent had roof work performed by JF Baker and Sons Roofing on November 2022. JF Baker did
not install a drip edge, so work not completed. JF Baker also damaged the drive way and garage all the
way down to the wood, which JF Baker stated they would not repair.

Our roof installation was performed in a professional, high quality manner.  I do not know what Ms. **** means by us not installing drip edge?  The roof was installed in September, it took until the end of November to collect any money from her.  We have countless notes of communication with her and pictures proving the damage was pre existing.  Her account has been turned over to South West Recovery services for failure on her part to continue making payments that she agreed to do.

It is not addressing the issue as reported.  My initial complaint was that the dumpster caused damage to my driveway.  There are holes in my driveway where the dumpster sat while they were replacing the shingles on my roof.  Also, as they removed the old shingles and threw them to the dumpster, they caused damage to the wood on my house as they were not thrown clear and slid down the side of my house instead.  I am asking that they restore my home and my driveway to its previous state before they came to my home.  I am withholding $5000 that I owe them until this matter is settled.  I also don't understand the additional $1800 that was tacked on to bill.

We installed this roof, including drip edge, on September
29, 2022, and even did some downspout work for free that was not included in our estimate, as a courtesy. Mrs. ****
has never complained about the work on the roof.  In fact, she said she loved her new roof.  A
partial payment was not received until November 11, 2022. When we called to
discuss this, she stated, for the first time, that she believed we damaged her
driveway and a small section of her fascia.
During that call, she asked for our help with her insurance
company.  We had someone go look at the
alleged damage, and determined that even though the damage was preexisting, we
would come out and fix those 2 small areas for her after her outstanding bill
was paid, as a kind gesture. We also spent several weeks trying to work with
her insurance company to assist her in getting her insurance money so she could
    pay her bill.
Over the next few months, Mrs. **** made small payments
monthly, and we kept in communication with her.
She stopped communicating and did not make a payment in May of
2023.  At that point, we began charging
her the interest on the account as is spelled out in the signed contract. A
week after we sent out the invoice with the accrued interest, we got a call
from Mrs. ****.  She said she wasn’t
paying her bill until we fixed the damage that she still believes we
caused.  We reiterated that, while we did
not cause, we were happy to come and help her out only after her bill was
paid.  We even suggested she pay all but
$1,000.00 until we could get out there. This was a courtesy gesture for a
customer that we did not have to offer.
Mrs. **** sent in one more check payment in June, which was
returned for insufficient funds.  She did
send another check to replace it, but we have not received any payment since.
We spoke with Mrs. **** on July 28, 2023. She told us that she was having the
driveway repaved, so that was no longer a concern, but she still wanted her
fascia painted. In an effort to compromise, we made an appointment for someone
to go over, do the painting, and collect a cashier’s check for the total
balance. This appointment for August 2 was cancelled by Mrs. **** and rescheduled
for August 14.  Mrs. **** cancelled that
appointment as well, and we rescheduled it for August 16.  For the third time, Mrs. **** cancelled the
appointment we made to rectify her situation and collect the final payment. She
said that she will call us when she is ready for us.
At this point, we have sent her file to collections. Her
initial project was to be a total cost of $27,728.00. To date, she has paid a
total of $22,000.00. After factoring in the interest of 1.5% monthly as per
contract and the returned check fee, her outstanding balance is $7,685.00.
Mrs. ****’s initial complaint about missing drip edge is a
complete fabrication, we believe because of being sent to a collection’s
agency.  The differences in her initial
complaint and the response from Mrs. **** show that she knows she owes us money
and what the charges are for.
We have pictures, documentation of phone calls, visits, and
appointments, and detailed invoices available upon request.
We are willing to accommodate Mrs. **** in writing off
$1,800.00 of the interest if final payment of $5,885.00 is received by way of cashier’s check or money order no later than September
15, 2023. We are no longer interested in helping her with the
    preexisting damage.

    Better Business Bureau:

Although I am not completely satisfied with this outcome, I have decided it is not worth my time and energy to continue with this complaint.  I do appreciate them waiving the $1800 interest fee.  I will be sending them a check today for the final balance of $5885.00.  I would like collection agency to be notified ASAP to cease and desist and if reported, the collection removed from my credit reports.  I would like to make sure that my warranty will still be honored should there be an issue with the roof in the future.

    Regards,

    Rickey ****
