I won a 14K russian emerald and diamond ring on 2/8/24. It was immediately paid for and a shipping label was created on 2/9/24. And then it NEVFER shipped! I called twice and spoke directly with staff who assured me they would e-mail the warehouse. I left another VM and an e-mail. On 2/19/24 I got an e-mail from EBTH that they consider the package lost in transit and have refunded my money (with a caveat that if it gets delivered they will charge my credit card again for the full amount). Absurd & Ridiculous. I called *** ** with the tracking number and they have ZERO record of receiving the package for shipment. On-line it shows label created, but not picked up for delivery. Nary a mention about filing a claim with *** **. This means either theft by employee, or I suspect, it will show up again in auction in the hopes of capturing a higher price. It should be noted that five (5) rings and a bracelet that sold that same night DID in fact reappear several days later in the auction. I also suspect I was a victim of schill bidding. Just as many have described within the last 5 minutes a mysterious new bidder shows up and several times bids with 1-2 minutes remaining. There is no point if you are a serious bidder, you will bid before the final 5 minutes knowing the clock resets. There is no way EBTH and the seller with whom they are commissioned would just let an expensive emerald ring vanish like a fart in the wind. None of this passes the smell test!Everything But the House

Good Afternoon, We are sorry to learn your order did not arrive. We understand how frustrating this must be. We tracked your package via ***** and like you said, it is currently listed as “Shipment information sent to *****” with the tracking number found on your Won Items page. We also reviewed the bin where the item was last scanned and observed it in the Pendship Lane. Together, this indicates it was placed onto the ***** truck but from what we can see, the item has never been scanned into *****. As our Client Service associate explained, if ***** scans it into their facility and it is ultimately delivered, we will reach out to re-charge the payment method on file. Our facility has cameras throughout and the first step in investigating this type of situation is to review footage of the item moving in the warehouse. We can confidently say an employee did not steal your item. In addition, EBTH sells thousands of items a month and as such, would not rely on their re-sale to make us want to keep an item from a buyer. Finally, we reviewed the bids associated with this item and saw where bidding increased significantly in the last 5 minutes. There is no correlation between the bidder and the seller and it is not unusual for bidding to spike when an item is ending. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope we have addressed all your concerns in this response. Kind regards, The EBTH TeamJ. V.

What a bunch of word salad. It's not that my item never arrived, it never left the ***** warehouse! ***** has erased the won item from my account. The Fed Ex tracking number ONLY shows up on the page that displays WON items, It does NOT show up on the product description or the invoice (both of which I printed out), I now have no way of trying to "track" the package. I had contacted Fed Ex several times and it's simple, nothing goes on the truck without it being scanned. ***** is lying. Their deduction that because it was in a bin destined for the truck means it made it on the truck is a falsehood and a sad attempt at an explanation. Notice how ***** has not filed a claim with Fed Ex, notice how there is no mention of the seller with whom they are consigned filing a claim. No reputable company allows an $800 ring to go missing, the seller would be out their 60%. Bottom line, this item didn't meet the sellers minimum reserve and they did not want to see it sold for the price I bid. ***** did their best with Shill bdding to bid me up and I fell for it. This is not a one off, look back at the online reviews and BBB complaints. Expensive items that have hidden reserves get ****** bid, or "lost" in transit...only problem is ***** (or the sellers) never seems to file claims against the carrier, and they keep using the same carrier. Logic would tell you if their is a problem with the carrier you switch carriers. The others were right, this company is a scam. Prove me wrong, file a claim with Fed Ex for this item! Show me the correspondence you had with the seller informing them that not only did you NOT sell the ring, but you also lost the ring and they are out the money and the ring. Ive made several purchases. Some Im super happy with. But when things go south, its REAL south. Example 1: I bought diamonds and the description didnt say they had been altered. Took it to my jewelry and he concluded they had obviously been altered. I didnt have the energy to fight. Example 2: I made a bid based on the picture and title of the item. The picture was a gold ***** link bracelet. The title said ******* Sterling Bracelet. I wont the item and then afterwards realized that the bracelet was made of silver and not gold. I emailed them to complain that the combination of the title and the picture were misleading especially when you cannot retract a bid. I cited consumer protection laws and they said they disagreed. So too bad to sad for me. This time, this one really ****** me off because how dismissive and unprofessional they were. So I reversed the charge on my ****. Not sure if the matter is still closed or if **** will end up recharging me for the purchase. EBTH now retaliated by locking me out of my account. So I cant see any of my former purchases. I get an error message that I need to contact customer service about my account.Everything But the House

Good Afternoon,We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with EBTH! We work hard to ensure our listings are transparent so buyers receive what is up for auction. We reviewed both cases and saw the diamond listing stated, "The natural or laboratory grown origin of color diamonds and diffused or surface coated gemstones cannot be determined without more advanced laboratory testing". We also reviewed the sterling ***** bracelet and noted the listed attribute of 'sterling silver' and 'gold tone finish'. Since these details were communicated at bidding, a return and a refund would not be offered.Regarding the status of your account, we do place a hold on any accounts with active credit card disputes. Disputes are received for a wide variety of reasons so to protect our consumers, we will not allow additional bidding/buying to occur until the dispute is resolved. If you would like to resell either the Cuban bracelet or loose diamonds, please email ***********************************Review fromRylee P

They scam you on shipping costs. They can say whatever they like, but NEVER have any of my items arrived in other than general packaging materials. I nearly bid on an item today that would cost less than 80 to send and they want 263. It's unfortunate as I used to like them. Canceling account.Everything But the House

Good Morning, We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with the shipping costs. We are happy to review the items' dimensions to ensure shipping accuracy. Please email [email protected] with the item number; we will respond quickly. Another option is to choose pickup when bidding and employ your carrier. Please note that EBTH will not pack the item, so the carrier must bring supplies to complete that task. We hate to hear you are canceling your account and hope you reconsider. While we work towards lowering the shipping costs across all our items, the unique size and weight of the pieces we auction make this a challenge. We hope you continue to find value in all things uncommon. Best, The EBTH TeamReview fromMatalyn F

1 starI bought 2 purses from this company and they smelled musty.. there was no mention of that in the listing item details.. when I opened a claim.. I received this explanation.Per the disclaimer on the listing, "Secondhand clothing, handbags and accessories may retain minor imperfections throughout including residual scent from storage and age. May require professional cleaning."Then I called and she said yes.. musty falls under this.,Im sorry but musty is not a normal scent from residual scent from storage and age.. buyer be ware ..Review fromSarah B

1 starTheir "diamonds" are a scam. They claim the following: "The natural or laboratory-grown origin of color diamonds and diffused or surface coated gemstones cannot be determined without more advanced laboratory testing." THIS IS NOT TRUE. It was very easy for a skilled jeweler to identify that these stones were altered and of poor quality. In fact, I listed the rings on **** using the wording of **** and the rings were returned for failure to meet authenticity as advertised! Here is their response: "I appreciate you reaching out about the previous 3 purchases. The phrase 'origin undetermined' means EBTH was unable to determine if the diamond was natural or lab. EBTH uses a ******** ****** to test all clear diamonds before listing. Colored diamonds, however, are not able to be tested due to the limits of the technology at our disposal. This is why all three listings have the following disclosure: The natural or laboratory-grown origin of color diamonds and diffused or surface coated gemstones cannot be determined without more advanced laboratory testing. Please locate that disclaimer on all three listings for verification of the above statement. If you have documentation showing the gemstones are not diamonds, please reply to this email with that documentation and the method used to test and I will review it." This is a total scam. Buyer be warned.Review fromjackie s

I couldn't agree more with the prior review left by ** *. I have been a faithful paying customer for years and have spent EXACTLY $70,918.16 with EBTH. Over the years I have received items where they neglected to include defects under the description of several items. I said nothing and would take these items to either a cobbler or tailor depending on the item, and it's need for repair. I recently received an item that had a hole in the front and center of the tee shirt. When I initially reached out I was met with defiance. They told me it didn't affect the overall character of the item. Would you want to wear a shirt with a hole in the front? I highly doubt it. I pushed the issue further and it was finally agreed that if I returned the item they would refund my credit card. In all honesty I don't believe I was ever granted that refund. So, recently I purchased a pair of high end shoes, and once again there was a defect not listed in the description. I reached out and supplied photos to reveal the defect. They responded with saying that their fashion team would have never missed the defect. I explained that their fashion team is human and therefore capable of mistakes. They disagreed which implies that I caused the broken strap. How totally unprofessional. It seem these days that everyone wants to avoid responsibility and cast blame on you for their mistakes. What is wrong with this world?. This online site is certainly raking in millions and yet will not take care of their customers. In their mission statement they claim, and I quote "To provide an unparalleled level of service. Their commitment to EACH & EVERY customer is cemented by their uncommon promise. If they don't hold up their end of the bargain they'll do their best to make it right". If you're not going to stand by your statement then don't claim it.Everything But the House

Good Morning Ms. *****, EBTH received your complaint regarding the Gucci top back on May 22, 2023. We worked quickly to resolve the issue but ran into trouble when you were unable to send photos of the damage you described receiving. From reviewing the case, you were unsuccessful in sending the photos until June 13, 2023, of which nothing could be seen so on June 14th we emailed a shipping label to have the ***** shirt mailed back for review and observed the pin-sized hole. We offered a partial refund in case you wanted to keep the item and when you declined, we refunded in full. At no time was there defiance observed in the communication from our EBTH Representative. With regards to the shoes, we have too reviewed that case. Your photos show the strap in complete disrepair and barely hanging onto the piece. As discussed in both the case and now this review, this level of poor condition would have been unable to miss in both photography and cataloging. As shown in the listing, the shoes were not in that condition when they were in our possession and that level of damage does not come from shipping. While we would love the opportunity to regain your trust, we understand how frustrated you must be. Best of luck on the 29 items you are currently following and please feel free to reach out to us should you have any issues in the future.Review fromJo P

1 starI have purchased porcelain items from their auction TWICE that were broken and worthless before they sold them, but they didn't disclose the breaks in their descriptions. The first time they refunded the purchase, but it was a hassle to get to that point. The second time they have given me the run-around and stonewalled me!!! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING AGAIN FROM THIS COMPANY! (They also sold me counterfeit jewelry that they claimed was verified, but I didn't go to the trouble of proving it to them, so I lost that money, as well.)Review fromShawn M

1 starWas winning bid on 2 flat pieces of paper, artwork measuring 8 11. My first purchases and was excited about the site. Item cost: $17 total, shipping cost: $56 additional which could easily fit in a $10 ***** envelope. Very inefficient and ineffective way to run a business.Review fromDon Y

2 starsI just purchased 8 separate ****** Silver Dollar coins in the same auction. No problem with the bidding, but the shipping is outrageous!! ETBH insists on shipping each individual coin by itself, instead of, easily putting all 8 coins in one shipping package! As each shipping package costs $27.03 to ship, this process has added over $250 extra to my order. Called ETBH and their explanation was not that they wouldn't fit, but that this shipping process made them more efficient internally. So ETBH makes the customer pay out of their pockets to make ETBH internally efficient. I've been involved with numerous auction houses and they ALL make 1 shipping package for multiple coin purchases, never individual shipping packages for each purchased coin. This also seems to set me up for an increased chance of missing or damaged shipping packages since there are now 8 packages coming instead of just 1!!Review fromLorrie K

I have had to open another case regarding another piece of jewelry not as described. Stated sterling with quartz stone. Made a case- had taken it to jeweler- stated not sterling and not quartz but cz Took them a week to respond- sent to other msg in meantime as now my mother in law has passed and I don’t have time to run this item 40 minutes one way to their warehouse. And 40 minutes back. Wanted written statement from my jeweler Couldn’t provide without paying for an appraisal which makes sense- they don’t do that for free. So I am supposed to incur that cost even though a jeweler who is GIA certified has inspected it. She responded stating she could send mailing label. I say ok but it takes her to end of business to provide it. At this point I have to work and inability to drop it off but my husband ends up doing it. So now who knows how long it will take them.Everything But the House
