“JCs contracting” installed a tile floor and plywood subfloor and floor over 2 months ago and the floor has major issues. The contractor abandoned the project after being paid despite not competing it and issues being know and present. Most of the grout has come out due to deflection in the floor/improper installation. I have had the situation assessed by 2 reputable tile contractors and they agree the work was done incorrectly. The contractor admits to the issue but has ignored steps to resolution. He has tried to bandaid fix the problem 3 times and the grout continues to crack out. I have requested a refund from the contractor and hired a new one to redo the faulty work. The new contractor states the incorrect subfloor was used and the tiles were improperly installed. The issues to the floor is estimated to cost $4500 to repair + $1000 worth of new materials. Should a resolution not be reached, I have made arrangements to contact the contractor licensing board, attorney generals office, and file a lawsuit.

I have pictures and proof of steps that were done at ******* ******* house, subfloor is solid, I installed a heated floor system that was 2500 dollars alone and it works great, I only charged 2,000 for the tile work  tile work. If you go in the basement and look The houses floor joist have splits and sideways and need to be re structured, And after setting the island which is roughly 1400lbs I’m sure that put some weight on the floor and is causing it to settle.
I agreed to fix the issue and I told Mr ******* ******* the steps I was going to do to fix and gave him a date I will be there which was planned. As many know we got a big storm that caused 90,000 people go with out power on the 2 hottest day of the year. So I volunteered my time and my guys time to help the people in need, while doing so my phone was blowing up from Mr ******* ******* threatening lawyers and cops? Even after the conversation we had we both agreed and settled on 2250. (Witch I have recorded) I have every receipt saved and labor cost it took to do that floor which is around 8500 just for the floor.
I have pictures of work when complete and text saying he loved it as he paid in full.
I offered to resolve the issue if the other ways did not work. He basically refused me coming back

Thank you for your response. I notified John right after completing the floors there were issues. He sent us pictures of the completed project when we were on vacation in Florida that upon first glance looked good. When we returned home it quickly became clear there were major issues with the floor for which he was immediately notified: 1) the grout bleeds upon cleaning, 2) the grout is cracking out of the seams, 3) there is deflection in multiple areas of the floor, 4) there are stains on the floor from low sloppy work, 5) the seams of the grout are of different width making the job look low quality. This was noted immediately by multiple family members and 2 other reputable contractors in the area that agree the only way forward is to demo and replace the prior work. I understand that the contractor is frustrated with the error but he was paid nearly $5,000 for the work in addition to $1,000 of materials purchased by me. He also noted that his work is "guaranteed" for 2 years, and in this instance it did not tolerate light walking for 2 days. He tried to regrout the floor three times unsuccessfully and at that time notified me that he didn't know what the issue was. I should not have to pay another contractor/materials of $5,500 for work that was just completed and guaranteed by John for 2 years. He tried to justify the subpar work by notifying me he did me multiple other "favors" throughout the project and offered me a refund of $2,250, with the stipulation that he would review his costs for other projected related tasks later to recharge me for them. For those services he determined the price and I paid exactly what he asked in full. Much of this work he claims to have done me a favor for needed to be redone. Two examples are when he put drywall over drywall on the existing kitchen ceiling it was crooked and his unlicensed workers tried to compensate for this by cutting lopsided trim and nailing brad nails through brand new cabinets that were over $15,000. This nails damaged the cabinets and were visible to any unsuspecting bystander. I had to redo the entire ceiling and trim work myself and spend over $1,000 to make it level so the trim would look natural. A second example is on of his employees completed unlicensed electrical work on a gas fireplace stove that my electrician and national grid noted were not to code and a fire hazard. They left open boxes with exposed wires. All of that work had to be redone and paid by me for a licensed electrician and subsequent inspection by National Grid. The reason we do not want John to return, a side from what was mentioned and his inability to correct the issue, is he attempted to commit 3rd degree grand larceny by collecting a $17,000 garage deposit in February for which he notified us was to purchase materials, blueprints and permits. He stated the materials were "backed into my garage" in February. After over 60 days past the deadline he still hadn't started he continued to get angry when I asked him for status updates. He proceeded to send me fake pictures and receipts for the materials, which were found to be a Google image from a decking website in California from 2023. He also never applied for a permit which was confirmed by the Town of Clinton NY and the building code enforcer. The manager at ****** ****** states neither him or any of his employees ever placed an order for the materials. Our new  flooring contractor would like to fix the floor for us and we are waiting for a refund/resolution for the faulty work.
