On July 11, 2025, I parked my vehicle at approximately 7:55 PM in a spot directly in front of ******** ***** at 3326 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, while dining next door at ****** *****. Less than an hour later, I returned to find my vehicle had been towed by Greg’s Towing. They claimed written authorization from ******** was given at 8:10 PM, alleging my car had been parked over 30 minutes — which is impossible. My GPS data confirms my arrival was at 7:55 PM. The written authorization was templated, not individualized, violating New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC) § 18.3.12.14(B), which requires accurate, vehicle-specific authorization.
Immediately after learning about the tow, I took photos documenting the lack of visible towing signage at the parking spot and lot entrance. The only towing signs present were small, obscured by a tree, and/or not visible from where I parked, violating NMAC § 18.3.12.14(A)(4)(b).
On July 12, I called Greg’s Towing at 10:10 AM and was told they were open by appointment until 3 PM. When I arrived, I calmly presented a written dispute letter, photos, and a printed copy of the towing statute. When I asked for the legally required tow log, an employee named ****** said they “don’t have to follow that law” and later presented an incomplete, non-compliant log.
After I informed ****** the log was insufficient, he became hostile, yelled, and attempted to intimidate me. I stayed calm but had to call the police. Before the police arrived, the business closed early at 12:27 PM, locked gates, and brought in additional staff and a guard dog. When police arrived (APD Case #*********), staff presented a new version of the tow log that was altered after the fact.
I paid the towing fee “under protest” and documented everything via photos and audio. This involved unlawful towing, falsified documents, inadequate signage, intimidation, and deceptive business practices. I seek a refund, a full investigation, and appropriate penalties for Greg’s Towing.

On November 15, my 10-year-old daughter and I experienced predatory towing at the parking lot of the ********** at Yale and Central in Albuquerque, NM. I parked in what seemed to be a shared lot for ********** and neighboring businesses, including Olympia Café. After 30 minutes inside Olympia Café (around 5:15 p.m.), we returned to find my car had been towed by Greg’s Towing.

The parking lot was empty, which was later confirmed by ****, the ********** General Manager (GM), who was very apologetic. My daughter and I had planned to visit ********** immediately after for our usual treat, as we are loyal customers. Despite this, my car was towed under the assumption that I had left the property.

Greg’s Towing informed me their office had closed at 6:00 p.m., leaving us stranded in an unsafe area overnight. My car contained essential items, including my daughter’s school bag, homework, and my business laptop, making the situation even worse.

Greg’s Towing stated they were called by Armando’s Parking Enforcement, who authorized the tow. However, the ********** GM mentioned someone is stationed in the parking lot to monitor activity, suggesting predatory practices. Furthermore, towing instead of booting felt unnecessarily extreme, especially since the lot was empty.

****, the ********** GM, confirmed the lot was empty and expressed regret, offering us free food to make up for the incident. While I appreciated his kindness, this does not address the systemic issue of predatory towing and inconsistent policies. Greg’s Towing also responded defensively, claiming they only tow with written authorization, which conflicts with the GM’s statement.

I urge the Better Business Bureau to investigate Greg’s Towing and Armando’s Parking Enforcement for unethical practices and hold them accountable for the stress and financial burden caused by these predatory actions.

    Dear BBB Dispute Resolution Department,

I am following up on my complaint (ID: ********) against Michael Victor DBA Greg’s Towing, as the company has still not responded to your requests. I want to provide additional context about the behavior I experienced and the steps I have taken since submitting this complaint.

    Details of the Incident:

When I visited Greg’s Towing to retrieve my vehicle, the tow yard owner, in front of both his employees and my 10 year old daughter, became hostile and threatening. He openly boasted about his reputation for being unfriendly and intimidated me by saying he would “throw me to the ground” simply because I calmly asked questions about their towing practices.

His aggressive and bullying behavior, coupled with his inappropriate remarks, were extremely unprofessional and left my daughter visibly upset and frightened. This behavior reflects the same disturbing pattern of hostility and lack of accountability described in many Google reviews about Greg’s Towing. It appears this owner regularly takes pride in being an unapproachable “bully,” further highlighting the need for intervention.

    Steps I Have Taken:

    1. I have recontacted ********** Corporate to escalate this issue, as their partnership enables Greg’s Towing’s predatory actions.

    2. I have shared my concerns with local news outlets to raise awareness of unsafe and aggressive towing practices in Albuquerque.

    3. I have documented Greg’s Towing’s aggressive behavior as part of my formal complaint.

Given Greg’s Towing’s failure to respond to your multiple requests, I strongly urge the BBB to continue pressing for accountability. This company’s conduct has caused undue emotional and financial harm to me and my daughter, and their lack of response demonstrates a blatant disregard for ethical business practices.

Please let me know if there are any further actions I need to take to assist in resolving this matter.

Thank you for your continued efforts.

    Sincerely,

My vehicle was towed sometime between 7:30pm and 10pm on 5/5/2023. When I went to where I parked my jeep I noticed that it was gone so I immediately called the number on the sign. After calling it the man who answered the phone was incredibly rude and refused to answer any of my questions, he sounded like he was half asleep, he was annoyed that I was asking him questions and said “I can’t answer anything call back at 9am when we open”. I cannot believe my car was taken somewhere and the person who took it refused to give me any answers. Secondly, when I called back in the morning he told me the fee would be over $300. Without telling me why or anything. He told me I could go pick it up now that someone was there.

On Friday, April 29th, 2023 My vehicle was towed from ****** ******* Apartments, located at ***** ****** **** *** ************ ** *****. For expired tags, on Saturday, April 29th, I went to work (I do home health care) and my client, who is disabled, asked me why I walked to work, so I proceeded to tell him how my vehicle was towed. He asked what towing company it was, and I told him it was Greg's towing. He said that's just down the street. I told him I needed to go over there to get my driver's license so I could get a duplicate title so I could get the vehicle out. He said, "Let's take the bus over there and see if they will let us get your wallet out. I thought it was a good idea because I'm always encouraging him to get out of the house, so Mr. ******* and I got the bus to Greg's towing, located at ***** ******* *** *** ************ ** *****. When we arrived, we looked around for an office building so we could knock on the door, but it was just a chain-link fence surrounding a lot of parked vehicles while standing on the public sidewalk. I did look around for my vehicle, which I did spot in the far south-end corner of the lot. I did not see any employees around, so I sat on the sidewalk to look up the phone number to give them a call. A lady answered and said that they were closed and that they would be available the following day, which was Sunday, April 30, 2023, so I told my client I would have to come back tomorrow because they were closed. As we proceeded to walk east on ******* Road, a car came racing down the road and slammed on its brakes. When he approached us, he had his passenger window rolled down and said, "What the “Explicit” are you guys doing at my lot?" At first, I thought he had us mistaken for someone else, but I soon realized he was the owner of the company. I then proceeded to tell him my vehicle was at his lot and we were doing nothing wrong but just looked through the fence we were on the sidewalk we never step foot on his property he said he didn't give a “Explicit” then he pulled out a gun pointed at us and said stay away from my lot at that point I got really angry and told him do you think that gun intimidates me he immediately pulled it back and said I didn't point it at you when that's exactly what he did I told him do you approach everybody who looks through your fence like this because I'm sure I'm not the first one I'm sure you get this on a weekly basis so at this point I couldn't understand why he was so angry so I decided to get my phone out and start recording him My client uses a walking stick everywhere he goes to help with his balance. Well, the gentleman started seeing what you were going to do with that stick. He said nothing; it's my walking stick, and he threw it on the floor. I'm not threatening you. This is my walking stick." In fear of this man, who is one of the biggest men I have ever seen, he then rolled up his window and took off west on *******. As I was recording the incident, I decided I was going to get his license plate, so I pointed the phone towards the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle then came to a screeching halt. He then threw his vehicle in reverse and began to come at me at a high rate of speed. I told my client to get out of the way while I proceeded to walk towards the sidewalk. He then stopped the vehicle at the exact location where I was previously standing, jumped out of his vehicle, and said, "Are you recording me “Explicit” I'm thinking he was so upset that he didn't realize I pulled out my phone and had it pointing at him the whole time he started to bring up the walking stick again, asking my client if he was threatening him with it. When my client didn't say a word, he then proceeded to throw the stick on the floor again and told him, I'm not threatening you with anything; that's my walking stick. He began walking towards my client, telling him he was going to beat on him. I then told him if you touched my client, I was going to sue the s*** out of you. He then looked at me and said, I'll get you on the side “Explicit” I then told him I got all these threats you are making on camera, and he then jumped in his car and drove away. So at this point, I'm trying to decide whether I should call the police and make a report about him pulling out the gun. I didn't feel comfortable with that because he does have my vehicle in his possession at this point, and they were also going to have to question my client; he was going to have to write a statement and possibly go to court. It was also a Saturday afternoon, and I knew we would be waiting hours for an officer to arrive, so I decided to wait to see what was going to happen. Sunday comes around. I called around 1:35, and I knew there was going to be resistance, but I asked them if I would be able to go to the lot and get my driver's license for my vehicle because I need to get a duplicate title. She then asked what vehicle it was and told me, "Oh, it's you. I told you yesterday that we closed at 2:00. No, you didn't mention what time you closed, but I didn't ask either, so I replied, "I'm about 5 minutes away. I can be there before 2:00 p.m." She then came up with another excuse that they left 20 minutes early today, but a minute ago you told me you closed at 2:00 pm. When you think it can't possibly get worse, it does, so I have been trying to come up with the money to rescue my truck from these hoodlums. On May 4, I arrived at work and saw a purse I had in my vehicle sitting on the counter at my client's house. I was really confused about how he was in possession of my purse and belongings, so I asked him why in the world my purse and other items were here at your place. He then told me that since I live close by, I decided to go to the tow yard and ask for your purse. I could have blown my top. How dare this tow truck company allow someone who has no authorization to take my vehicle or my belongings? The minute the tow truck takes possession of my vehicle, they are responsible for it, and they let just anybody take my purse. Mr. ******* is not allowed in my vehicle when I'm not in it. I would have never given him my purse to hold, but the tow truck company decides to let another unauthorized individual access my vehicle and walk out the lot with two purses. At this point, I don't feel I need to pay these people. I'm not sure exactly what would make this situation right, but as far as I know, I do not want to pay the bill I feel they owe me. At this point, I feel if I go to the cops and show them the video, they will take this individual's rights to own a gun away for pointing the gun at civilians for no reason. I don't feel like this is the end; he's made a threat to get me on side, which can be seen and heard on the recording. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible to resolve this problem! If this matter is not resolved in a timely manner, I will seek legal action.

On Saturday the 28th I parked my Subaru Forester in an open and unmarked parking space near ********* and ******* Ave, near ****** **********. I arrived around 5:30 p.m. After an evening of dinner and drinks at the local businesses, I arrived to find my vehicle missing. I called the police department and gave them my VIN and a towing company (****** ******) had towed my vehicle and called it in, per towing regulations. However, there is ZERO reason at all to have towed my vehicle in an unmarked spot as I was a patron of various nearby businesses. Basically, they "legally" stole my car saying that I was not a patron of the business they serve but not only did they not have proof of that, the space was unmarked as I stated. When I retrieved my vehicle, I had to pay $290 to retrieve it with all sorts of extra fees. This is extortion and fraud. They stole my car for me to pay them to get it back under the guise of being allowed to tow it. Additionally, on the "bill" it says they towed my vehicle 15 minutes after I parked there at 5:47. This tells me that they were hovering, watching, following and recklessly and needlessly towed my car. That is frightening. They only allowed cash payment and of course, I needed to get my car back so I can drive my child around and go to work and its my property, so I was not going to argue in person. When I called on the evening of the 28th, to question the whereabouts of my car and the "why" they towed it, the man I spoke to was hostile to me and accused me of being rude for being upset that my car was missing for no reason. I did not feel safe. He said I could call back in the morning and possibly get my car back. I was so scared to call this business back, that I had a male friend call and drive me there to pick up my car. They are taking advantage of innocent people and make up fake rules that allows them to steal cars and store them in their lot and make people pay.
