The ER has gone from bad to worse. First strike: we brought our dog to the ER for sudden focal seizures (from what turned out to be cryptoccocus meningitis). Kathleen G****** insinuated that we must have CBD he ingested?! When that didn't fly, possibly cancer? In other words, everything other than what was right in front of her. He stayed over for them to 'figure it out.' The next morning he was discharged without diagnosis. On the way home, he had a rapid succession of seizures. We went right back. A different vet apologized then shared he suspects a heart issue, so of course an (expensive) litany of EKG, ultrasound etc. Another night stay. The next day: His heart is fine! And, we finally believe you about the seizures. We can't help you, but here's a bill for $2800. So, strike one and two. Strike three happened today, when he presented with lethargy both eyes squinted shut (recent cataract surgery). The conclusion: his eyes are OK (not accurate, as it turns out), he's reacting to the recent phenobarbital increase. No treatment plan was offered for review. OK. We'll take him home. We notice a $250 IV charge for fluids. What? We have to go, his insulin time is coming up, and we were told he didn't need fluids. Kristine appears again. The only way I can describe her behavior is a refusal to acknowledge anything. She tried gaslighting, first that we had requested fluids (not true). When we stated it was getting late for his food/insulin, and the $250 charge needed to be refunded, she replied that there were tests done that we weren't charged for (sure), but that she "could add on to our bill if she wanted to." What kind of person in the position of power over people anxious about their sick pet pulls this BS? She was offended we pointed out a blatant treatment mistake. It was evident the staff was in over their heads and protocol went out the window. So, no more ER visits. If you find yourself there, and Kristine E**** walks in the room, request a different vet.
