After we had some foundation work done to our post and piers I discovered our old brick chimney pulled away from the building causing the roof to leak this spring (of 2025). Subsequently I had Skyvent (along with a few others) quote a metal chimney and roofing installed on a 650sqft cabin and was quoted $8200 which is fair enough in todays world for metal roofing (not standing seam). However, it's been a fight since they started. Arguing to keep the masonry chimney rather than metal attached to the roof like I asked for in the quote process. Then they tore off the old roofing without having the new roofing on the ground and called me at Lowes to see if box store metal roofing or even composite roofing would be OK. I said no, I want contractor grade roofing from a lumber company. So they had to buy tarps to water-proof the roof until the new roofing arrived because they had not ordered it yet. So then they added "strapping" that created a 1" gap between the roof and roofing& sprayed cream color foam between them. Rather than asking us along the way how we wanted it done or sticking to what we were quoted. Flashing is pulled away from where it was. The angle on the 2 trim pieces on the back side of the ***** doesn't even line up leaving a 1/2" gap. Now they want an additional $6k to do it the way we wanted in the first place. With new plywood where the roof was soft just like it was quoted! On top of things they had a key to the cabin and a special place I didn't want the neighbors to know about but they left that hiding spot wide open and left the front door unlocked for days!!! If I could give them a zero I would. Complete Amateur's!!! The owner's son is in charge of this project but hardly has the experience. Had I known this to begin with I would have gone elsewhere but I did my due diligence and found this company on the BBB because we wanted professionals with a good reputation doing the job. I'm at a loss & don't know what to do. So incredibly disappointed.

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this situation for anyone reading. Our company always installs roofing to state code and manufacturer specifications. In this case, the roof was installed using strapping, which is standard practice and recommended because it allows ventilation and prevents moisture issues. At no point before or during the project were we asked to install the roof flush to the decking. When this preference was raised after installation, we explained the differences and still offered to remove the strapping, re-plywood the roof, and reinstall the panels with great care. Because of the extra labor and risk of damage to the 16-foot panels, this required an additional cost.Regarding the chimney: we advised a full rebuild for safety and longevity. The homeowner declined that option, and we installed according to their chosen approach, even though it was not the method we ************** for materials: our original order was delayed by the supplier. To protect the home in the meantime, we tarped and waterproofed the roof until the correct roofing arrived. At no point was the property left unprotected. We take security very seriouslyif there was a concern about doors being left unlocked, we regret the miscommunication and will be reviewing our internal procedures to prevent this.We understand that construction projects can feel overwhelming, especially when unexpected challenges arise. Our goal is always to provide safe, code-compliant, and long-lasting solutions. We stand by the quality of our work and our willingness to go above and beyond, even offering major reconstruction at additional cost when not required, to make sure the customer is satisfied.
