    Let start by saying the tech that did my CT calcium count was outstanding! That's it! The receptionist Bedford was rude and unfriendly. I could deal with that because that seems to be the standard lately and that is her personal problem.....But, the scheduling department was totally incompetent. She was snappy and rude. I checked with my insurance first to see if they covered this scan and they did. So when I called to schedule the scan they told me I would have to pay the fee of $250 upfront even though they have contract with my insurance company and is in network. I questioned that and told them I would call my insurance again and get back to them. My insurance company called them and asked them to submit the claim but they would not. So, my insurance company said for me to pay and they asked Derry imaging to send them an authorization number. Then my insurance company would reimburse me for the scan. Well....they never sent the authorization number!! I am now appealing the denial of payment to reimburse me! I called the office to speak with an office manager and had to leave a message. Still haven't heard back. Not a surprise!! I will never set foot in Derry Imaging again!! I will also never recommend it to anyone either! They are unprofessional and don't care about their patients!

    We are sorry to hear about the service this patient had from our scheduler and front desk. This will be addressed with the staff. This patient spoke to our office manager yesterday. We explained that this particular test is not a scan that we accept insurance payments for, that our facility offers this as a cash only scan for $250.00. The patient also signed a waiver for services that are not medically necessary or are experimental/investigative. This particular exam is not universally covered by insurances and is usually outright denied by insurances. This is why we offer the scan only as a cash pay service that does not go through the typical insurance process and that we have patients sign the waiver that explains that the patient is responsible for the cost of the exam.

    Two itemized copies of her bill were put in the mail to the patient yesterday for the patient to submit to her insurance to see if they will reimburse the patient for the scan. It was also explained to the patient that we do not provide any authorization numbers to patients. We obtain authorization numbers from insurance companies for scans that we bill via insurance, but this process does not occur for cash pay only scans.
