  March 12, 2025 Signed estimate for $1,800 to trim 1 maple, 1 American Elm, and 4 walnut trees.
  July 9, 2025 had gutters cleaned. The gutter guy informed me that I had a branch/limb from the American Elm laying across the roof and if I had a chain saw he would cut it off for me. No chain saw so branch remained on roof.
  At a later date I called Hughes and the lady set up appointment with Estimator to come out and look at it. He said it would cost me $750 since it would be considered an emergency. He said he would just leave it and they would trim it when they came out on 8/20.
  8/20/2025 Hughes came out and trimmed.
  8/21/2025 I received invoice with amount due for $2,150 which was $350 more than original estimate. I called Hughes questioning the discrepancy.
  8/22/2025. Estimator called with explanation: The $350 was for the branch/limb on the roof. He said he told me about the $350 charge when he was out here in July. I don't recall him stating that. And he could not provide any written documentation to me stating the extra cost.
  8/23/2025 Submitted my check for $2,150 to Hughes Tree Service.
  Review: Administrative assistant answering emails, phone, etc gets an A+. Excellent at communicating with me. Very fast at getting back to me.
  Review: Workers get a B. Was very impressed with the crew. Hard workers and did a very good job. Would have received an A but they used the neighbors driveway without permission.
  Review: Estimator gets a C. Nice guy but did not provide written documentation to me for the extra cost involved for the branch/limb. Could have easily avoided this problem with an email or text about the $350.
  Bottom line Hughes Tree could have easily received 5 stars from me, but instead will receive 3 stars on this job.

  7/23/25 They came on to my property with large tree trimming trucks with buckets to cut down a tree for a customer in the next yard. I asked them to leave and use the customers yard to work from. The supervisor refused to leave. He said the customer specifically told them to use my yard and he went up in his bucket and continued cutting with a tree saw. I had to call the police to get them to leave and then I saw that they were working from the customers yard where they should have been. Very disrespectful of others property. The supervisor set a bad example for his crew as well.

  I have used Terry Hughes Tree Service to trim 2 large pine trees. They had fair pricing and the crew cleaned up nicely before leaving. A tree limb did fall within a few days of them trimming the tree and they promptly sent a truck out to clean it up. It was a couple of years before limbs fell again in a big windstorm.

  Here's the timeline of our experience.
  July 2nd - We accepted a reasonable tree trimming proposal which put us on their work schedule. The timeline depended on OPPD dropping our line.
  July 31st - Wind storm. I requested a quote for removing the tree.
  August 28th - Received email stating the work will start on August 30th for the initial trimming proposal. Never received a quote for removal.
  August 29th - Rep came out to quote the tree removal. The quote was comparatively much more expensive for removal plus the representative told us the original trimming quote was now void and the new trimming quote is now triple the original. This work was supposed to start the next day. We denied any work proposal.
  It was poor communication that we were left in the dark about getting a quote for tree removal. The bait and switch on the trimming price reeked of opportunistic exploitation.

  Due to the July 31 storm, this project change considerably in both scope and complexity. Mr. M******* was given a new proposal for the work required. Mr. M******* cancelled his service, and is free to hire a different contractor.
