This is a difficult review to write because over the almost 5 years (combined) that our children have been attending Small Miracle at Village Pointe, we have had a mostly positive experience. We have been impressed at how quickly our children were learning and enjoying going to school, and the staff were seemingly friendly and responsive. Which is why we were completely dumbfounded to receive a call from the Owner, Laura, informing us that our children were being abruptly expelled without discussion. The immediate precursor to this phone call was management's decision to close the facility in the middle of a severe thunderstorm with tornado force winds--the reason given was because there were only a few children left and the staff wanted to go home early. This despite the National Weather Service's advisory to shelter in place for next half hour (well before facility's normal closure). We naturally expressed puzzlement about this decision to facility management due to safety concerns and inconvenience to working parents, but instead of professionally accepting the feedback, we were angrily told to find childcare elsewhere. When asked for an explanation, there were vague accusations about alleged rudeness to staff member(s), but it quickly became clear that we were being banned due to our concerns expressed about the facility's masking policy for teachers and this situation just provided the pretext. To be clear, we are both fully vaccinated and we complied with their mask policy while in the facility. While we understand that masking is appropriate in some cases, the risk from COVID-19 to young children particularly is extremely low and there is mounting evidence that prolonged masking significantly hinders children's speech and emotional development due to lack of facial interaction with adults. We brought this issue up with management only twice over the past two years, and only since the mandate was rescinded. In the Owner's defense, I think Laura has clearly been fed misinformation about the nature of a couple interactions with adminstrative staff/management at the facility. Our interactions with the teachers and other parents have been positive and friendly and we had NEVER heard any complaints before this call. Had these alleged incidents been brought up at the time, any miscommunication could have been easily dispelled. This is really dissappointing and confusing because we would be happy to continue attending Small Miracle, but it appears middle-management there need to learn and appreciate the difference between constructive feedback from customers and "rudeness".
