    Our extended family held a small family reunion/birthday party involving reserving 5 one bedroom suites at Pinestead Reef Resort in *****************, over the weekend of March *****, 2023. When I checked in at the front desk, I was given keys and internet info, and I paid for the 2 nights in full. When my husband and I got to our room (210), we discovered that there was no heat (it was 57 degrees according to the thermostat on the wall). My husband called the front desk, and was told that the heat in room 210 was "offline," but that they could send up a maintenance man to give us 2 space heaters. We requested another room instead, but were told that they were completely booked for the weekend. When we stated that we didn't think space heaters were a safe way to heat the rooms, we were told that their space heaters were "safe" and that we had been notified on some form that renting a room might include space heaters for heat (I could find no such info on their website or on our receipt; I don't know if such info was on the reservation confirmation, as my sister-in-law made the reservations).Problems: 1) We should not have been charged full price for a room with no heat -- in *************, in March, and on a weekend that included a winter blizzard on Saturday; 2) I strongly suspect that the management knew when they assigned us room 210 that it had no heat, as another member in our party in the room next door (212) also had no heat (also, when booking the rooms, my sister-in-law originally had requested the previous weekend, but was told that the resort had rooms with no heat and that they were being "worked on"); 3) I'm not sure that using space heaters in a hotel room is safe, legal, or is in compliance with some kind of applicable building code regs. I would like at least a partial refund.
