I recently filed a claim with the insurance company because of an accident that happened at one of their restaurants. I told the restaurant that I have a really bad shrimp allergy and if they can accommodate and they agreed and sat me and my daughter at separate tables. I ordered a plate of calamari we ate and half way through the plate I noticed a shrimp (they were covered in breading so it wasnt noticed right away. Soon after I started having breathing problems. I was sweaty short of breath and could barely walk. I started to peel the bread off of what I thought was calamari and realized that the whole plate was filled with shrimp. Not just one shrimp but multiple shrimp. Youd think I ordered a basket of fried shrimp. This whole time I was eating shrimp that Im severely allergic too after I told the server. I filed a claim and spoke with a case worker. I told her my story and she wasnt empathetic at all. It was like she already made her decision the moment she heard my accent. She often times will try to discredit me and say randomthings. Instead of treating me like a human she decided to treat my like a criminal. Like I was lying about my allergy. She once even said why will you eat shrimp if you are allergic and where was your epipen. Instead of being met with compassion and understanding of my what felt like a near death experience I was met with judgment and what felt like discrimination. I asked to speak to her manager and when I asked her about filling a discrimination report she immediately got hostile. Instead of pointing me in the right direct to file the complaint she Continuously said I dont think this is discrimination. And raising her voice and saying how is this discrimination I dont even know what you are talking about. It was like she was insulted I felt discriminated against. She refused to give me the information on how to file and hung up on me. I will like to file a discrimination report.
