This business owner and their employees use the residential street as their overflow parking. They frequently utilize the residential street to move vehicles in and out of the garage rather than using their own lot. This is a major inconvenience to their neighbors who struggle to find parking at any time of day or night. The street parking should be for residential use only. Reducing the available parking for residents makes it more difficult to rent units and lowers the resale value and desirability of homes on the street.

I know it's frustrating to find parking especially in the evening.  The streets are public including parking I can't control customers dropping off from parking on the public street or anyone else who decides to park on a public street. If we do park cars on the public street they are completed repairs and the customers pick them up that day. ************** has a chronic parking problem not limited to one street it's all over the city. As you see in the picture the streets have plenty of parking during the day and when people come home from work the parking fills up fast which is out of my and anyone else's control. I don't feel its fair to blame a small business that's been serving the community since 1949 for a parking problem the whole city has. I own rental properties in the area and I don't blame the local businesses for the lack of parking on public streets.

I brought my car in to be serviced due to the check engine light being on. The car went into the shop with a trade in value of $4,000. After they ran the diagnostics, it was determined that my spark plugs were old and were sending a miscommunication to the cars computer system. The mechanic said it was a routine change. The mechanic broke one of the spark plugs off and it was stuck in the engine. Then the mechanic broke a tool into the engine trying to remove the broken spark plug. When they attempted to remove the tool and spark plug the cars engine cylinder was cracked in the process. The work to be done to fix the issue was estimated to cost way more than the car was worth. The car needed to be towed out as junk and I had to buy a new car. The mechanic did not assume any responsibility. The car left their shop with a trade in value of 0. I tried to be reasonable and ask for them to meet me half way and pay me for half the trade in value but the mechanic refused. Looking to the BBB to help settle.

****** ******** brought his 2014 Ford Escape, with 105,396 miles on the odometer, to us on 10/15/23. He asked us to check for oil leaks, check the battery, find out why the check engine light was on, and why the engine was running rough. We ran a series of tests and found fault codes PO303 (cylinder three misfire) and PO316 (misfire on startup). We checked and tested for the misfires and found the spark plugs to be original and extremely worn. Ford recommends replacing the spark plugs at 60,000 miles. We recommended replacing the spark plugs, changing the oil because there was no oil showing on the dipstick, and degrease the engine to find the oil leak. The customer agreed to the recommendations. While replacing the spark plugs, the spark plug in cylinder three was seized and the porcelain part of the spark plug broke, leaving behind the threaded part of the spark plug in the cylinder head. We contacted the customer, explained what happened, and that this was a perpetual issue with the 1.6L Ford engines. We explained that we needed to remove the rest of the broken spark plug from the cylinder head and he agreed. After several attempts, an E-Z Out tool had removed most of the seized spark plug, without the spark plug falling into the cylinder, without cracking the cylinder, and/or without cracking the engine, like the customer claims. We also explained that we would keep attempting to remove the spark plug, but we may have to remove the cylinder head from the engine and send it to a machine shop to remove the broken spark plug and save the engine. After several hours, the customer called and said to stop trying, that he was done with the vehicle, and it needed too much work other than the engine concern and he was going to buy a new car. We put the car back together and pushed it out of the shop. Several days later, the customer said that he was going to have a new car delivered to the station and have the Ford Escape towed away on the same day. We told the customer that we were not going to charge him for checking the Ford Escape or for the attempt on removing the seized spark plug and we both agreed it was unavoidable situation. About a week later, the customer came to the station, met the delivery truck driver, received his new vehicle, and had the Ford Escape towed away, never mentioning anything more about the Ford Escape. The shop lost days of work tying up our best technician and losing the additional work that could have been completed. This was a concealed condition and known inherent problem with this engine, not the fault of our repair shop. Any repair shop or dealer would have had the same outcome.

I am rejecting this response because: it could have happened to anyone but in fact it happened to your mechanic therefore you should be held liable. You cracked the cylinder in the engine. I brought the towed car to another shop and the mechanic said you destroyed the engine. You also failed to mention you broke your tool off into the cylinder which probably made the situation worse. I brought in a car to you with a $4000 trade value and it left with a $0 trade in value. You wanted to take out the engine to a machine shop and have work done that cost more than the cars value. Not sure how that can be right under any circumstances.

    Sincerely,
