We had Baltimore Equitable for over 25 years. We were totally satisfied until recently. Then they said that they required home inspections inside and out side for safety purposes. Well for the past 20 year in the old house they did not once come into our home to photo every room and product like shoes havoc systems, etc. And they never told us they required it. In the policy they say inspections but didn't to reveal it was internal and external ones. No up front revealing of this disclosure requirement. But now after we have our new home and they did not in advance tells of this requirement every 10 years either and having never done it before. at the old home they say they can cancel the policy if we do not allow them in the home to photo they can cancellous policy. We feel they should openly disclose they requirement to every customer prior to the policy being made and not after. The policy says inspections but we thought as not saying required meant only prior to the policy being implemented and not after we move in with all our belongings. We think this as a violation our home privacy and should not be done. We know of no other ins. company requiring such inspections after policy is given. If they do they would notify the customer up front about this policy. WE will not after 25+ years being with them ever promote for them again due to this violation of our home and recommend you do not either. Our homes are ours and should not be violated in this manner under any pretense. Pray you agree and will not purchase their product until they stop this violation of our homes and privacy. Thank yous for your time.

      Mr. B*********i,
Our normal business practice includes, performing an interior and exterior inspection of the home prior to the issuance of a policy, and performing an interior and exterior inspection approximately every 10 years the policy remains active.
The initial inspection allows us to calculate an estimated cost to rebuild to ensure we are recommending the proper coverage for the insured’s dwelling and other structures and the ability to determine the eligibility of the property.
The 10-year re-inspection gives us the opportunity to verify our estimated cost to rebuild is accurate and that it includes any modifications or changes that may have been completed since the initial inspection. We are also able to determine that the condition and/or use of the property still falls within our guidelines.
Prior to issuing your current policy, an interior and exterior inspection was conducted. A follow up visit, after you were moved in, was conducted to take additional interior and exterior photos of recent repairs. We had also attempted to complete an interior inspection at your previous location but were unable to do so.
We apologize that you feel our inspection process is a violation. We believe our inspection process provides a service to the policyholder to ensure their home is insured properly. We do appreciate feedback from our customers, and we have since added wording to our applications to make it clearer to our policyholders that the 10-year inspection involves an interior and exterior inspection.
