    Business Response

    Date: 09/21/2023

In response to Mr. ********** complaint of a broken drive shaft is in correct. Yes, we ( Capeway Towing ) did tow his F-350 Dump Truck to *********** in Hyannis. My son ****** arrived with a Flatbed & put ************************ truck in to neutral then winched it on to the Flatbed and secured it. When at *********** he did the same procedure and let the winch out with the truck in neutral and with the truck off our Flatbed my son then put the vehicle back into park. At this time the drive shaft was still in tacked & there were no parts on our bed. ****** then brought the keys into the Service **** and gave them to ****. That Afternoon **** called ****** and asked about the drive shaft which ****** replied what about it. ****** went back to Balise and looked at the vehicle and sees the drive shaft hanging down. As he's looking at it the mechanic from ****** points to the yoke at the rear end and points out that this yoke has been broken for some time do to all the rust and has only been ****** on by this little metal pieces. At this point everyone said I didn't do it. So, ****** took pictures of the yoke showing the rust and the little piece that was holding it together. ******************** & his wife came to my shop and accused my son of damaging their vehicle. When I tried to explain that by putting the vehicle into neutral it doesn't put torque on the drive shaft but when you put it into gear such as drive it does. I can only assume that when the vehicle was started and placed in to drive the well what little pieces that were holding the drive shaft to the yoke separated under torque causing the other end of the yoke to break clean off and the drive shaft to fall out. I tried to explain that this was a preexisting problem that was going to happen anyways but ******************** & his wife didn't want too here it. I have photos and a drawing that describes the drive shaft attaching to the yoke. ****************** & his wife have threated to *** us and have blasted us on yelp and other social media out lets so this is no surprise. Thank you, *************************,
