Misinformed and held back information on our rescue. Said house trained but then learned she has a doggie door. Not the same. Dog gives no cues to go out. Was not warned about the following: skittish, not treat motivated, doesn't know how to play, does not know her name. These are pertinent facts to know to have successful integration. Said crate trained - she is not. This dog was clearly just let loose on their property and had no training or socialization to help acclamate to a home sitution. Dog barks at other dogs and is not happy to see them. Was told not leash trained. Fine that's easy if the dog knows their name and is motivated. She is neither.
This is not in the best interest of the dog by not giving her the basic trainings to have a positive integration.
Had several rescues. This is by far the worst starting sitution. Dog is 8 mos old and doesn't have a clue about anything and we were not warned about that. She didn't know pavement. Doesn't know cars.
Be aware about costly add ons in transportation as well. These people are not upfront about anything. Spoke to other adopters at pickup site who had reservations as well. This dog will cost us thousands in training which we were not prepared to have to do. I have trained several rescues but have never had one with multiple difficulties and no motivation. I would have passed on her had we known and she could have gone to someone who was more prepared to start from scratch. We will get it done and she will be a great addition but this is not what we paid a LOT of money for! Basically double our local shelters and then an expensive transport fee. Will tell friends go to local shelters for adoptions! They also provide free training. We went with KLR because the breed was not available here. Live and learn.
Have had no followup call to see how she is doing. Last rescue did follow-up. Left with feeling this is more about making money than the welfare of the dogs.
    Buyer beware!

My rescue, Stella, is sleeping under my chair right now. I remember seeing her picture online and thinking that I needed that dog and she needed me. At first I found the adoption process daunting and complicated but then I realized KLR was just being cautious in vetting those applying for dogs - as they should be. The goal is a forever home with a good person/family. Stella has been a wonderful dog. I send KAT a picture each year on her birthday. Thank you KLR.

I was fortunate to connect with KLR and to adopt a wonderful Cairn Terrier as a result! I have thanked Kate and her team numerous times for a wonderful adoption experience. I have adopted through other organizations and found KLR to be thorough in reviewing me as a potential owner getting references including my vet. They gave an accurate description of the dog and had the local vet check information readily available. And the transport was smooth. I would not hesitate to refer my friends to KLR for adoption.
I used to participate in Westie Rescue and foster dogs before adoption. I know personally how many steps and people are involved in the process of rescuing dogs, getting vet checks, screening applicants to find the best fit and transporting dogs to their new owners. This is not an easy process as it is being done remotely, many people are involved in the various phases and in different states. KLR and other rescue organizations job do amazing work to save dogs and connecting them to new homes. I thank them for their dedication and hard work.

I'm appalled at the 1 star reviews here. I feel they are completely unfair! Working with Kat and Michelle was an absolute pleasure. Amazing communication with both of them! Picking up our Cavoodle, Grace (formally known as Luna) was just flawless. If you are looking for an adoption agency....YOU CAN STOP LOOKING!!! Thank you so much Kat and Michelle....Grace is happy and so are we!

Adopting our "fur baby" Kelsey from KLR was an amazing experience. They helped us through every step of the way (we were first-time adopters.), very responsive, and took very good care of all the dogs in their care. Our experience was so positive, that we even kept the name that the foster-dog mom gave our pup! :) We very much recommend them, a great team!

Horrendous! Will make you go on a goose chase for their dogs! Lead you to believe many things and then simply tell you the dog has been adopted. Don't answer emails in a timely fashion and never ever return a call. Be very very careful from Michelle and Kat. Will try to lure you in and then when they feel they have you , they tell you the dog is no longer even when they say it is indeed up for adoption. They try to push other dogs not listed that have been with them for a longer period of time once they tell you the one you wanted was already adopted. They also keep the dogs on the website long after they have been adopted so do not believe what you see listed. They even go as far as calling your references back to look like you are truly in the running for the dog you chose. Buyer beware!

Working with Kentucky Lab Rescue was wonderful! I live in Massachusetts and saw that this organization could transport to my area. I fell in love with Bonnie, a beagle mix, and immediately reached out for more details. The process was smooth and you can tell that Michelle and Kat genuinely care about the dogs they rescue. Transport was on time and the driver was lovely as well. Thank you for my new family member, she is already settling in well to her new home!
