They are billing me for late fees even though I never received an initial invoice. The reply from them was childish and not helpful, it would not be hard to do a whole lot better.

Sometimes mail can get lost or delayed, however KTA representatives are always happy to review an account and verify and update an address. When this happens and a customer is willing to pay their tolls, we work to adjust fees. KTA has some of the lowest electronic tolls and fees in the nation. In this specific instance, the customer received 3 statements. However, he was not prepared or willing to pay toll charges, which removes the representative’s ability to adjust fees.

I've had a DriveKS tag for years. I've never had a problem until this week. I received an invoice for a mailed statement fee and a late fee for a trip in March in a van I do not own, and an account number that is not mine. I was told by customer service person Rachelle that it was my responsibility to verify with my state that I do not own the vehicle I am being billed for. I'm disgusted with this questionable "service". I've owned an iPass for 15+ years and had a fraudulent experience. I am so creeped out.

I can understand why this customer is frustrated. In doing research we learned the license plate in question was made inactive by a person outside of KTA via the website earlier this year. According to KTA policy, if the license plate is not associated with an account a new DriveKS account will be created. Such is the case in this situation; travel that occurred in March was applied to a new account. What I do find interesting, is this situation was resolved with the customer the same day the complaint was registered with the BBB. The two accounts were combined and the fees removed.

This agency is a scam they use federal money to maintain interstate routes and the state charges to use the turnpike on top of taxes you pay and if you use the tag reader system you will be charged double I'm sure that I am not the only one to learn how this works. And if you rent a car for a trip there will be a additional fee from your rental agency how can any of this be legal is there a lawyer out there to investigate this

DriveKS has ridiculous customer service. They charged me IN COlORADO for a car that was stolen from us six months before. Instead of just waiving the $20 charge they are piling on late fees even after I had my credit card company get the $$ back. They say it’s because of the user agreement and that the tag was still active. Doesn’t matter if it wasn’t even a Kansas toll road or that the car was stolen. Just piling on insult to injury!! How petty can you get.

Why don't you just waive this charge and the late fees? The car had been stolen and totaled by the insurance company! We didn't even own it anymore.

You know who didn't charge us, even though there was also an E-470 tag? The State of Colorado.

KTA acts like a regime towards users of a highway that has been paid for many times over and over again. Fees that KTA tacks on your toll are at least double the toll and to try to resolve the matter over the phone with customer care is virtually impossible; and they know it. It's set up that way to confiscate as much toll, fees, etc... from you as possible. Their automated message when you call them says, due to the unusual amount of calls ....Right! They know they'll receive an inordinate amount of calls because of the way they've set the toll system up. How and why is this tolerated?

KTA charged my KTAG acct $30.45 for tolls which occurred in the state of Texas, from a vehicle with Texas plates. The only similarity was that it had the same plate number as our motorcycle in Kansas.

The KTAG User Agreement says, "You agree to review your respective toll transactions to identify any duplicate or erroneous charges & bring them to the attention of KTA or the appropriate Authorized Facility for correction within 120 days of the incurred toll", which I did.

I called 4/3/24 to get this resolved & KTA blamed me for selecting the wrong license plate type during set up. I set up our KTAG for a motorcycle in KS, with KS plates, not TX plates! But somehow that part doesn't matter. They allowed toll from TX plates to charge my acct. I sent an email to explain, but they denied any fault or refund for a 2nd time.

Feb tolls were on the Mar stmt, but no Mar tolls were on the Apr stmt. That tells me KTA realized their mistake sometime after the Mar stmt, but failed to adj. my acct. Those charges should have been applied to the TX customers acct, not mine!

In a final attempt to settle this, I sent a letter to KTA in Wichita, explaining everything & asked them to credit my card, or KTAG account. Well, that was just a waste of good postage. I got the same result, "it's your fault, we will not reimburse the charges". For some reason, they sent my letter back to me as well.

It's very risky to let KTAG have your credit card or bank acct. on file because they just flat out refuse to admit their own negligence. If you try to challenge them legally, in the User Agreement, "You agree to pay all costs, including attorney's fees, incurred by KTA to enforce this agreement".

As their customers, we should be able to trust that they will charge the correct toll or correct any errors. Not blame us for something that is completely out of our control.

I want to warn others and record this issue in case it happens to anyone else.

      Check your KTAG charges often!

I sent a request to Kansas upon my return to Arizona asking for how much I owed for a toll. I did not have a transponder, being registered in Arizona. In response to my inquiry, I got an email stating that there was no record of my vehicle traveling on the freeway. I left the country for approximately a month only to return to find a bill for $10. That Bill was apparently generated one day after the email from KTA stating no record. When I try to pay that bill online it appears to have tripled. I made a good faith effort to pay it timely.

We're so sorry you had issues paying for your toll. We can see why you didn't get notified that your vehicle had traveled the Kansas Turnpike. The license plate for the notification did not match the license plate of the vehicle. You did call in on 08/14/2023 and was able to speak with a representative who was able to give you a onetime courtesy write down to the actual cash rate.

I don't have the dates anymore. But twice when I went to Witchita, I was charged for going through a toll without paying. They sent me a photo of me driving through. That proves nothing. I always stopped and always paid. 40 bucks in tolls from Kansas city to Witchita...plus what I actually paid those days. I believe they are scamming out of state people. In my work, I now refuse business that goes near the tolls because I just can't pay on that day and then again later! They are stealing.
