Company representatives accused me of theft and threatened to call police over a 17-day late payment while I was in the middle of a cross-country move. They used deceptive contact methodscalling from personal cell phones, emailing from personal accounts, and texting my personal phoneand when I asked them to stop, they immediately replied using company letterhead to again accuse me. On April 7, 2025, I entered into a lease agreement for a polygraph instrument that is critical to my business ************* July 2025, I was 17 days late on a lease payment due to a cross-country move. During this short delay, company representatives accused me of theft and threatened to contact law enforcement. These accusations were made in writing via email, despite the payment delay being less than one month and there being no fraudulent intent. The companys representative acted deceptively by contacting me from a personal cell phone, sending emails from a personal email address, voicemails from his personal cell, and texting my personal phone. In short, he was acting as if he was not calling on behalf of this company. After I explicitly requested that he stop contacting me in this manner, he immediately responded to my email using the companys official letterhead and email account, again accusing me of theft. Why This Is a Problem No person should be subjected to harassment, threats, or accusations of criminal conduct over a minor payment delay of 17 dayslet alone during a move. The deceptive and aggressive contact methods used are not consistent with fair or lawful debt collection practices.Supporting Evidence I have email correspondence, screenshots, and voicemail recordings documenting the accusations, threats, and deceptive contact methods. These can be provided upon request.Impact The companys actions caused me stress, disrupted my business operations, and harmed my professional reputation.
