We signed an agreement with The Storks Nest Agency on Oct-23, 2023 and paid a $500 deposit. The agency was responsible for finding a medically viable gestational surrogate, coordinating medical appointments and managing communication between all parties. However, despite the contract outlining disbursement terms, $8,000 was mistakenly debited from our escrow account on May 10, 2024 and sent to ************. These funds were later returned then again held in ****** due to this dispute. We had concerns about the fees, as Storks Nest's documentation was unclear, and each of our inquiries yielded inconsistent answers. The agency, led by ****** ****, failed to facilitate communication with the Gestational Carrier as advertised. After raising these concerns, ****** threatened to cancel our agreement, which she did on May 31st, followed by the gestionational carrier also canceling her agreement. Both were cancelled without good cause. It left us with over $15k in bills and fees paid. ****** sent us a separation agreement on 5/31 offering to return our deposit as long as we signed her agreement. We took time to grieve the loss and consulted with an attorney. In August, an attorney sent a revised termination and refund agreement to ****** but there was no response from ****** or her attorney. We filed a formal complaint with the ************************ on September 9 seeking mediation but have not received a response. Additionally, we have made several attempts to contact ****** directly but that has also been unsuccessful Weve paid Storks Nest a total of $8,500 of which $8,000 is still held in escrow because ****** won't release it. Given the emotional and financial toll this has taken, we hope the BBB can assist, as other efforts have failed.
