    On3-11-24, I had my ************************************************** ****** ****. After completing my tax, I was informed I owed over $3,000 to the State. I told Ms. **** that cannot be possible there is no state tax deducted from my county pension, but she insisted that her work was correct. It was not until 11:30 pm that evening with many texts and phone calls from me did she decide to recheck my tax. Ms. **** called my home and text her apologies and assured me her error was corrected. Furious, I contacted her the next morning and there was nothing but disrespect from her. I did a Yelp review on her poor services.On 7-3-24, I received a letter of notice from the IL state tax that I owed over $3,000 plus penalties due to Ms. **** error. Today, the State has sent this to collections. I have to get my tax redone and pay fees due to Ms. **** not responding to my emails, call and her error on my tax. I want the BBB assistance , I should not have to pay penalties, collection fees and debt that is not owed by me. I contacted my credit card company for reimbursement of her services, but to date it is pending because Ms. **** is trying to fight me on this. I do not trust her to do my 2023 corrections after she incorrectly did it wrong twice. The il State Tax **** this morning informed me, my tax was not done correctly by Ms. ****** The original copy and Amended copy fir 2023 Tax are both wrong.Thank you, Ms. ***********

    We appreciate the opportunity to address Jeannie Wells' concerns regarding the preparation of her 2023 Federal and Illinois state tax returns by our company, Wealthy Lane Enterprise, LLC, DBA WLE Financial Services.

    Upon the initial completion of Ms. Wells' tax returns, both her federal and Illinois state returns indicated no tax owed. It is important to note that we provided copies of these returns to Ms. Wells for her review. Initially, after her concerns were raised, we promptly rechecked her returns and communicated our findings. However, after the amended tax return we were not informed of any further issues.

    Regarding the notice Ms. Wells received from the Illinois Department of Revenue, we regret any inconvenience this has caused. Unfortunately, Ms. Wells has since blocked communication from our office, preventing us from offering assistance in understanding the exact nature of her penalties or tax liability. We encourage Ms. Wells to share any correspondence from the Illinois Department of Revenue, so we can properly investigate and resolve the matter.

    Should Ms. Wells prefer not to continue working with us, the Illinois Department of Revenue offers free tax assistance for those who qualify, and we encourage her to explore that option if needed.

    We remain committed to providing accurate services and would be happy to assist further should Ms. Wells reestablish communication with us.

    Ms. Lane prepared my tax on 3-11-24, there was an error made by her and she then assured me that the Amendment 1040X was corrected and electronically sent out.

     

    On 9-16-24 and 9-18-24, the state told me that my Amended 1040X was not received from Ms. Lane until 7-5-24, which is 4 months later. This is exactly why the state sent me various letters stating I owed a 3,000 debt plus penalties due to Ms. Lane failure to send the Amended 1040 X on 3-11-24.

    What is more appalling is that Ms. Lane never responded to my emails and call on 7-3-24 and 7-4-24 to date. I was confused when I received a letter stating the 1040 X was received by the state tax on 7-5-24, instead of 3-11-24. This goes to the character, integrity and trustworthiness of Ms. Lane of Wealthy Lane Enterprise.

    The State Tax notified me via phone on 9-16–24 and 9-18-24, that my 1040X Amended was received from Ms. Lane on 7-5–24 , which is still incorrect.

    As of today , I have not received a letter from the State stating there is a zero balance.

    What  I did on my own was submit my 1099 form to the State with other information to correct Ms. Lane errors, and prove that I don’t owe State Tax.  Also, I contacted the Governor’s office to assist me with this mess that Ms. Lane has created concerning my 2023 Tax.

    BBB- Ms. Lane should never be trusted to do business again concerning Tax services for the public!! The fact that Ms. Lane has the nerves to try and clear her name is both disgusting and appalling. I have suffered mental and physical stress due to her incompetence and failure to submit a corrected 1040 X on my behalf on 3-11-24. I have been battling with the state to fix her errors on my tax. I’ve had to spend money to fax, copy and mail evidence for 4 months now trying to prove that I don’t owe this debt due to Ms. Lane errors.

    Ms. Lane went behind my back on 7-5-24 and submitted an Amendment which is still incorrect to the State without my knowledge!! if there is any resolution of a zero balance on my behalf it has everything to do with my courage in contacting Governor Pritzer for help, not Ms. Lane or her submitting an incorrect 1040 X 2023 Tax 4 months later.

    Ms. Lane has no integrity tell her to prove and show when she sent the incorrect Amendment of my tax to the state. Also prove that she did it correctly on 3-11-24  and 7-5-24.

    Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to Ms. Jeannie Wells’ complaint. We strive to provide transparent, professional, and timely tax preparation services for all our clients, including Ms. Wells.


    First, we would like to clarify a few points made in Ms. Wells' complaint. Our primary communication with Ms. Wells has been through text messaging, not emails as stated. The last contact we had with Ms. Wells was on March 12, 2024, when she requested that we email copies of her amended Federal and State tax returns for 2023. We promptly complied with this request. The federal tax return was filed electronically, while the Illinois Department of Revenue required the state tax return to be mailed. Once mailed, we have no control over when the Illinois Department of Revenue processes or enters the amended return into their system.


    If the Illinois Department of Revenue shows that the tax return was received in July 2024, it reflects their processing timeline, not our actions. We sent the documents in good faith and within the time frame required for filing.


    Additionally, our records do not show any incoming emails, phone calls, or text messages from Ms. Wells after March 12, 2024. Her assertion that we refused to acknowledge or correct errors is unfounded, as we addressed her concerns promptly and to the best of our ability.


    It is also important to note that Ms. Wells initiated a chargeback for the $248 fee for our services, and to our understanding, she has already received the refund from her bank. Despite this, she has chosen to pursue further complaints against our business.


    In conclusion, we stand by our original response. We have acted in good faith, provided timely services, and have no control over the internal processes of the Illinois Department of Revenue. We deny the allegations of dishonesty and incompetence.
