    Business Response

    To whom this may concern,

I ***** *****, Owner and Operator of All Hands On Deck Flooring and Trim received a Trim and lvp job from ****** ******.

    $7800.00 Total Job

We were only Paid for what work we had gotten finished which we call the Rough-In.

$6240 (80% of job total) was paid for the Rough-in in which we completed this including all the trim and doors/Windows and baseboard downstairs/case outs and very custom closets(not our basic packages) this man tried to get everything EXTRA for free and now accusing me of stealing materials and this complaint in general because I couldnt finish out the job for one I am a Eagle Scout and a Former United States Marine I dont steal or do wrong by anyone. This is my very first time ever being reported in the 5 years I have ran a business so little frustrating.

The backout was $1560 (20%)remaining on the invoice which we didnt get paid for.

The backout consisted of lvp and the remaining base upstairs and hardware for the doors is what was left for us once painters got in and out and completed there due diligence but unfortunately I had to tell him we could not finish out the job as I took a job out of state and wouldnt be returing. I knew from where I stand I didnt owe him anything as we got paid for 80% of the job(Which we completed in Full) and not the Full $7800.00 of the total job.

As far as the Refund he is wanting I have no clue what refund he is even talking about? We dont owe him a dime we didnt steal anything and we went above and beyond for this man and was praised daily about the quality of our work. I feel like because we couldnt finish he came after me with his own personal vendetta but anyone with a brain could see he doesnt have a leg to stand on. Hope to hear back soon thanks for your time its much appreciated.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: 23128076

I am rejecting this response because:

    To whom it may concern,
I appreciate the opportunity to provide a response to the statement submitted by ***** *****, owner of All Hands On Deck Flooring and Trim LLC.
On February 21, 2025, I entered into a written agreement with *** ***** for a scope of work clearly outlined in the contract titled Trim Package + LVP Install. I paid *** ***** a total of $6,240 on the same day, which was made in good faith to initiate and carry out the agreed-upon services. Contrary to his characterization of this amount as payment strictly for rough-in, there was no separate staged payment agreement defining progress billing or milestones the understanding was that this payment was for the full and complete performance of the contract, minus the final $1,560 balance to be paid upon job completion.
Unfortunately, *** ***** walked off the job without completing significant portions of the work, including:
Installation of approximately ***** square feet of LVP flooring upstairs
Trimming and installation of two pocket doors and four bypass doors
Shiplap installation in the master bathroom
    Installation of baseboards upstairs
All remaining hardware, including closet rods, bathroom fixtures, doorstops, and doorknobs
Furthermore, *** ***** took with him several materials that were purchased specifically for this project materials I paid for and made an apparent attempt to take more, which I discovered and removed from the site. Despite my repeated attempts to reach a resolution, he only contacted me much later to confirm that he would not be returning to finish the work due to taking an out-of-state job. No formal termination of the contract was provided, and no effort was made to offer a refund or return the materials that belonged to me.
Due to his abandonment of the job and failure to complete the contracted work, I have since been forced to pay $5,000 to hire other professionals to complete what was left undone. This places me out-of-pocket by an additional $3,440 directly resulting from *** ******* failure to fulfill his contractual obligations.
I also strongly reject the accusations made in *** ****** response, including the baseless claim that I tried to obtain "extra" work for free. The work in question was not extra; it was specifically outlined in our agreement and remains uncompleted. His personal remarks and attempts to discredit my integrity are not only irrelevant but also unprofessional and inconsistent with the facts.
I respectfully ask that this matter be reviewed in light of the actual agreement, documented payments, and the substantial financial and logistical burden placed on me due to *** ******* breach of contract. My goal has always been to resolve this matter reasonably and fairly however, when a contractor accepts payment, fails to deliver the contracted work, and leaves a homeowner with thousands in additional expenses, accountability is necessary.
Thank you for your time and attention.

    Sincerely,

    ****** ******
