    I signed a lease in ******* 2021 with Carrington Woods/********** (they use both names) and have regretted it since. Several months into the lease, they required tenants to use an app to pay rent (in violation of the lease terms) that also gave a notice of when it was due. It did not work well and did not work at all for payment. I had to pay extra every month to get a money order. In *** ****, I received the notice from the app that my rent was due and the amount had gone up $250. I contacted the apartment office and asked why. Their employee said it was a mistake, just pay the regular rent. I paid it on time. When the rent went up, I decided to move and notified them of my grievances and decision to move. This was delivered to the apartmentoffice in writing in a letter dated ******** *. The letter was placed in the hand of the employee on duty and I have a witness. I moved out during the month of November and turned in the keys at the apartment office on *** **. Electrical service was disconnected on *** **. The apartment was vacant, cleaner that when I moved in, and left in good condition. I have pictures and witnesses. In ******* * was served with an eviction notice by the magistrate court which was delivered too late for me respond. This filing was fraudelent as they had in their posession information that I did not live there. Their first notice was “service by tacking” which is not legal when the landlord has knowledge that the tenant does not live there. They continue to send me notices that I owe them for rent for all the months since I moved out. I have spoken with them and they say that the increase in rent was for the month-to-month differential which started after the lease expired. Also, they claim to have sent me a lease renewal in July. Their employee may have said they did but I received nothing. Their typical method of delivery was to just leave it at my front door. They still claim that I owe them for rent after I moved out.
