This is about *** ****** the handyman. First, thank you for help with ******* lumber. On 6/10/25 (3 weeks ago) ******* lumber picked up the door unit, but *** has not gone to put in the correct measurements to re-order the door. *** said, he ordered it, but ******* lumbers manager said, theres not an order on file, and *** would have a receipt. On 4/16/25, I hired *** to replace my front door with side lites and do other jobs at my house. On 4/17/25, I paid *** upfront for jobs that totaled to $3,472.50. *** said, hed come to my house when GL picked up the door, and hed sign for the new one, and give GL the correct measurements, as GL had instructed. I texted *** when GL was on the way, 40 minutes out, but *** didnt respond until days later. I have dealt with *** over 3 months, he leaves me hanging constantly, and I have to contact him. He says, h*** do things when he finds time. I think I should be a priority, because Ive paid him upfront as he insisted. I texted him 6 xs after ** picked up the door. *** said, ******* Lumber would charge a 10% restocking fee. I dont feel I should have to pay it, because I didnt make the mistake. *** blamed ******* lumber, but I think he measured wrong. *** must go to GL to put in the order, so he can replace my door. I have added screenshots of text and emails I received from *** and ******* lumber. Can someone please help me? This is a nightmare! I just want my front door replaced, its rotting. This has delayed me from putting my house up for sale, and I missed out on buying a house I wanted. Theres photos of the other jobs that *** did for me. I asked him to replace broken and missing boards or fence panels, and to fix damaged trim on my house. I dont think he did a good job. After replacing my back door he left it in the front by my garage. He later wanted another $90 to haul it off, so my son did it. (Another address for *** is, *********************************************) Thank you for any help you can offer!Business Response

I was hired by Miss ***** to do a task around her house multiple jobs and one of those jobs included a front door removing and replacing a front door. She wasnt sure exactly where to get a front door from without spending a bunch of money so like I told her I would help her to find a door That would match her price sit so I went to a liquidation place in ***************. They did not have a door in her price range so I went down the street to ******* lumber where in fact they had her door and they only wanted $550 for her door compared to other places that want to about $1000 So with me being me as a company, I try to save all of my clients as much money as possible because I understand the struggle in this world as it is so I did some shopping around. Thats all that I could find in her price range. well it turns out That when I ordered the door, they told me that it would be there that following Wednesday as it turns out the door never show we didnt get a phone call for days after that so when ******* lumber finally called they told us that the door was running late that you manufacturer Did not show up with the door and that it was taking a little more time than what they anticipated so with that being said, all we could do was wait for the door to show up or for someone to tell us hey your door has arrived. Will the door didnt show up until a month and a half later And me and Miss ***** called on the weekly basis to check on the door and they told us the same thing unfortunately we had to wait for that long, but it got delivered to Miss Karens house so when they deliver the door not only did they set it outside, but when they called me and they asked me about the delivery and where it was supposed to be placed I told ******* lumber that you need to call Miss ***** and you need to ask her ******* lumber never did that. They simply took the door off of their truck and they set it outside of her garage door, so Miss ***** called me and she asked me about it and I told her that I told them to call her. They never did that so now that the door has been delivered I told Miss ***** that I would be there as soon as I had the chance to When my schedule had a breakthrough so when I did show up, I measured the door and the door frame in the front of her door ******* lumber had gotten the door measurements wrong. They messed the door up at the top was 60 5/8 inches at the bottom was 60 1/2 inches the door measurements that I gave ******* lumber was 60 exact And 80 inches high exact when they sent the door and it got there. It was not that exact measurements and fact it was two different measurements at the top and the bottom so I told Miss ***** is and I showed her that it would not fit. She understood so we both agreed to send the door back to ******* lumber When I called ******* lumber I told them that the door was not the right measurement and that it needed to be sent back they told me that they would schedule a pick up and they will call Miss ***** and let her know but they also asked me what was the size of the door supposed to be so I told them 60 x 80 exact so ******* lumber scheduled a pick up with Miss ***** they picked up the door from Miss Karens house it with me and ******* lumber talked. I told them that as soon as they got the door to give me a call because ******* lumber told me that I would have to sign off on the size again so I told ******* number when you get the door give me a call and I will come to ******* lumber myself, and I will sign off on the door because they told me that they could not send anything to my email as far as a written off document for me to sign for the size and send back to them so moving forward, they picked up the door. They never called me. Miss ***** called me and asked me about it. I called down there to ******* lumber and I asked him what was going on *******. Lumber replied they did not know that I needed to speak with a certain person at ******* lumber which was either ****** or. ***** most of the time when I called there was either no one was available at the time they would take a message and they would tell me that they would leave a note for them to call me back. No one will call back Miss ***** would call me on the phone and tell me the same exact thing that she would leave emails that she would call them. No one replied back to her, so it was the same exact thing that happened to me that happened to her so finally, we fast forward about another month give or take she asked me as I put have. I put the order in. I tell her I cannot get anyone to call me back about this order. I have left messages. I have called and asked about the door. They tell me hold on and they tell me they will call me back Miss ***** says that they would say the same thing to her which also I have in text messages back-and-forth with me and Miss ***** about this situation as it turns out the same scenario where I said that I told ******* lumber to give me a call when they picked up the order so that way I could sign off on this order they never called me to let me know that they picked the order up a couple weeks later after me and ***** both were puzzled onto why we could not get In touch with ******* lumber, she tells me that they said that I need to come down there and sign off on the size which was the day before Fourth of July weekend so I told Miss ***** that I would take care of it but also keep in mind that I do everything in my power for my clients But as to for the holiday weekend, no businesses are open and I can only do so much so they following week I go down to ******* lumber which was that Tuesday after the holiday and I sign off on the door and show them the exact size that I need *************** he prints out the old invoice for the door that we had to return just for Clients information to write down the correct size so I tell him the correct size he writes it down on a paper. He takes me into a young ladies office and he explained to her the exact size that needs to be Done. I take a picture of this invoice where he wrote down this information. ****** tells me that he will be in contact with me and Miss ***** in an email which, in fact he did explaining that it has to be signed off on which keep in mind that I asked ******* lumber before. Could they send me an email for me to sign off on it But ******* lumber said that they could not do that but in fact ******* lumber did that for me and Miss ***** to sign off on it and send it back to them so in the email, it explains to me and Miss ***** that with this door size it would have to be a custom build That she got the full refund and she would like for me to go to ********** and purchase the door for $900 and that she would pay the difference now keep in mind that Miss ***** only paid me in advance $300 for this door to be installed Which honestly I feel very bad because Miss ***** was in a situation that could not be controlled because the manufacturer for that door was late, giving it to ******* lumber so with it being late to ******* lumber it missed everything up between everyone so again nothing was an intentional in this situation All I wanted was the best for my client Miss ***** trying to look out for her so she could sell her house. The only thing that I was paid for was to install her front door. Honestly, I did not expect for anything in this manner to happen. This is literally an uncontrollable situation And I am truly sorry for anything. honestly, I know deep down inside that she just really wants her door done and I completely understand but the facts are that I cannot do my job unless other people do their jobs So all of the money from ******* lumber from the door that I bought which was $495 was sent back to me Tim the handyman she asked me could I go to ********** and pick up this door for $900 and she would pay the difference she only paid me $300 to put this door in in all honesty. I wish that I could help her but the door at ********** just wouldnt fit either. Its slightly over the measurement so with this being the case, the door would have to be a custom door and ******* lumber. Try to explain this to her and tell her that the price for the door to be a custom door like that with sidelines would be $1800 so I tell the handyman I am very sorry and regret to say that I will have to return all of the money to Miss ***** because the job cannot be completed without a custom size door so I will be sending a check to Miss ***** in the amount of $800 for labor and material thank you. Hope everyone has a great day.
