We hired Mickey Patel to build a mother-in-law-suite, a 32x32 square, plain Jane. Nothing fancy, no extras. Our contract said 90 days for completion. He abandoned the job the 4th month after it was supposed to be done. We made the mistake by paying him in full before completion. As we thought it was in good faith and he could be trusted. We tries numerous times to contact him, with no response. Finally, we got a letter from the county building inspector saying Patel pulled himself off the permit. The county said the permit is still incomplete and needs the final inspection for occupancy. Now knowing he had no intentions of completing the work. Even though he had full pay in his pockets. We were forced to get a lawyer. He left us with a leaking roof. All of the ridge shingles had to be replaced, and 14 nail pops in a 4 month old roof. No electric. The electrician I spoke to said he wouldn't do the work until patel paid him for previous work he'd already done. Main issue, the whole north side of our exterior wall has 2"-4" inch bow in it. We had to get a structural engineer for assessment. So Patel isn't only trying to get away with poor workmanship, he's also ruining the resale value. DO NOT TRUST MICKEY PATEL OR PATEL CONSTRUCTION. If you do go with him, make sure the contract is in complete detail. Building plans as well. And don't pay until you are 100% satisfied. Because once he has his money in hand, HE WILL GHOST YOU. He should have his license revoked. He is not worthy of having a general contractor license in the state of Georgia!
