    In 2018 I leased a townhouse from a company called “************ ******** **********”. In 2019 Kismat property management took over the lease. I maintained the lease with them until June 30th of 2025 which was the end of the lease. Kismat kept my security deposit of $1700 and is demanding an additional $425 for carpet cleaning.
    When I moved into the property in 2018 under the other company, the carpet was already used. During my time there over 7 years, normal wear was expected. During the past several years, the roof had been leaking and Kismat property management made several attempts to repair it using local handymen who were not roofing contractors. I constantly had to place buckets to catch dirty water, although sometimes these would overflow due to the severity of the roof leak. I kept images of the leaking ceiling area, and also all of the maintenance requests to repair the roof over the years. Now Kismat is demanding an additional $425 and threatening to turn the matter over to a collection agency

    RESPONSE TO COMPLAINT;

    Page 12 line 22 of the lease agreement signed by ******* *** states that the carpet will be professionally cleaned upon move out or management will have the carpet cleaned at tenants expense. Upon inspection at move out management deemed it necessary to have the entire unit carpet cleaned. A professional cleaning company was hired and the carpet was cleaned. See attached pictures of the unit carpet before and after cleaning. The entire security deposit was used for cleaning and or repairs of the unit. No funds are being returned to the tenant.  If there are any more questions please let us know.

    I am rejecting this response because: The damage to the carpet in the master bedroom is due to the failure on the part of management to repair the leaking ceiling. I provided screenshots of the multiple requests to fix this issue. I understand that the entire security deposit of $1700 was retained by the management company, however the damage to the carpet in the master bedroom was due to the failure of management to repair the leak in the ceiling despite multiple requests which I’ve provided to the bbb. The management company is attempting to charge an additional $450 for an issue that they failed to resolve
