On 10/26/22 my son, ****************, got a fever, and due to his age (6weeks) our pediatrician advised us to go to ER. We went to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital as it specialized on infants. In ER medical staff run all tests and screenings, and discovered that he has a virus. They provided recommendations and discharged us around 4am. In the morning of 10/27/22, I got a call from a hospital stating that they found a bacteria in my son's blood, and we need to go back to the hospital immediately for admission. Hospital admitted us, took blood test to determine what kind of bacteria would grow to decide on next actions. Medical staff also administered antibiotic via IV for 2 days without yet confirmed diagnosis. After 24hr spending in the hospital we still had not received any updates about bacteria growth; thus, I started to insist to follow up on its results. Unfortunately, every time I asked about the status no one had any updates; and only after 48hrs they concluded that there is no bacteria, and the previous results were not correct due to cross contamination. Several doctors and nurses explained (as I couldnt understand how my son got the bacteria) that the nurse that took his blood originally didn't clean his skin correctly. The bacteria from the skin run to the vial with his blood, and as a result bacteria was detected in that blood sample. To say that I was terrified about such explanation - is understatement. I couldnt' believe that my son spent 2 days in the hospital with IV attached to his tiny leg, and with unnecessary antibiotics treatment administrated just because someone did not follow internal procedures. For 48hr that we spent in the hospital we had nothing but stress from lack of follow up from medical staff and realization of what the bacteria can do to such a tine human caused not only emotional but even physical pain. Moreover, in 6weeks the babys stomach is not yet developed, and he was given antibiotics for no reasons for 2 days just because internal procedures were not followed! As a consequences, he was poked with needles (IV) unnecessary. And I will leave aside the room service and the quality of the food, and the most unconformable couch for the moms as comparing with the rest of stress - it was nothing. Needless to say, I was so frustrated with the hospital for not following their own internal procedures that lead to our unnecessary admission and medical interventions. After everything my family went through due to the medical negligence, we received a bill from the hospital for described unnecessary procedures and stay. I called the billing department an explained above. They recommended to file Request for Billing Review, so they can dismiss this charges. I filed a claim on 01/24/23. Unfortunately, it was denied with the letter from the hospital dated 04/07/23 and 04/10/23 (the same letter signed by different people on different dates). With this claim, I would like to ask BBB to help to resolve as layers dont accept this case due to small amount. I am looking for the following results if possible:-Dismiss all charges related to this hospital stay -Reimbursement of $200 that I paid in the hospital at the time of admission -Emotional compensation Thank you so much for your help,Sincerely,******************** (mother of ******************)

I am a breast cancer patient and my docotor utilizes this facility and I had the worst experience with the Nurses on the 7th FL East. Very dismissive and honestly I felt discriminated against. Very disappointed at staff. Reached out and filed a complaint with Customer Experience ************************* and Director of Operations ********************************* 3.1.24.I have yet to hear from anyone beside the fact Customer Experience is investigating. As a person of color with Stage IV Breast Cancer I am very disappointed especially when there is a known fact that woman of color does not receive proper health care treatment in facilities. Recieved food 4 hours after my procedure and it was incorrect. Staff is very unprofessional Nurse ****** (no longer there) I can go on.
