I called Dr. ********************** Rubenstein's office and spoke with his receptionist asking if the DR does lipoma removals. The receptionist stated that the office does do lipoma removals, which I decided to move forward with booking an in office visit.I schedule my in office visit for 04/20/2023 and met with a Physician Assistant by the name of *********************************. She informed me that the receptionist was incorrect and the office does not do lipoma removal because they can take up a lot of office time and delay their other appointments. Lipoma removal is not a service that is provided at the office and I would have to see another doctor. My insurance ********** Blue Shield was billed for $150.00 and paid $95.24 for the in office visit. The total amount I owe is $54.75. Service ************************ visit with a doctor. The amount of time with the physician is determined by a person's condition and treatment needs. I do not believe my insurance or I should be responsible for this amount because the office provided misleading information when scheduling the appointment. Someone at the office should have seen the notes place in the computer under reason for patient visit and called me to inform me lipoma removal is not a service offered. I was billed for a visit that served no purpose and should be considered insurance fraud.
