June 16th paid $150 registration fee after being mislead and misinformed about a school environment. June 19th paid $572 in book fees did not receive anything. August 2nd paid $320 for a total of 32 hours of lessons. Received 1 ************* left the environment traumatized as it was not what it was said to be and they were bullied by a teacher. Reasons For Full Reimbursement 1- False representation of the facts during a school interview phone call where Mrs. ** misled us to feeling confident about the school environment and courses we discussed to get us to sign up both daughters for all four courses. Informed day 1 classes not suitable for the girls after already being locked in. Also, environment was not as promised and children suffered traumatically from being in an environment promised that they would not be in. 2- Traumatic experience suffered by both the children is a direct result from the false representation of the facts and being misled into signing the children up for the environment which was a lie.3- The children suffered from bullying while already in a traumatic state from *****************************. She mislead and lied to the parents about the environment to lock them in and she then lied when asked why she thought it was okay to talk to her children that way. Two children heard the same bullying comments from her. 4- During a zoom call to discuss the misleading environment and bullying suffered by the children and request full refund ***************** was gaslighted by a third party who was suppose to be an unbiased moderator for the meeting. Unprofessional. 5- Breach of contract when policies were implemented a month plus after signing the contracts. Policies for the environment were not made known nor never signed or agreed to with the contract. Policies were added over a month later and never signed or agreed too. Do not agree to them and never would have if they were made known before being swindled into signing up and paying.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/04/2023

In response to ********************* grievance, we do agree that the stated amount was paid to us for fees owed.  There was a non-refundable registration and book/supply fee form that was signed and notarized by ******************************* which is attached.

The discussion that ***************** is referring to her feeling mislead has to do with how often we do standard tests.  We offer home educators classes to assist parents with learning.  The 1st day of class, ******** and ***************************** were asked to do an evaluation assessment in math to evaluate which book they should start with. They were told, along with *****************, that this was not a test and not graded.  Since the girls had arrived at the academy very upset already, the teacher did not force them to take any evaluation.  We represented the environment as it is, a non-traditional classroom full of projects, presentations, crafts and student interest led assignments.  The children were only in class for one hour which may not have been a reasonable time frame to experience all these things.

The zoom call was to help ***************** express her feelings so we could come up with a plan to help her with her children.  ***************** expressed even before the first day of classes, that her daughters had never been out of their home with any other teacher and had severe separation anxiety.  As I tried to reassure ***************** of the gentle comments made to her children, she admitted to all 3 of the teachers in the Zoom meeting that her children had a tendency to lie to get what they wanted and what they wanted was to be home.  We reached an agreement that day, after hearing that one of their family members and her baby had just died. They  were headed out of state to the funeral and that after they returned home, we would have the girls try classes again with their mom to stay in the class with them.

We wanted to give them an appropriate time to grieve and after a few weeks passed, we heard from ***************** demanding non-refundable money back. We reached out to them to see if we could try again but received no response except for a continuation of demand for a refund. ******************************* signed a notarized agreement stating that they would pay their tuition monthly should they pull their children out for any reason. see attached.

We have not pursued them legally as we continue to try and find a peaceable solution as they are in breach of their contract.  They are, as offered before, allowed to set an appointment to come by the academy to pick up their books/supplies.  We hope that the ******** will reconsider their complaint.
