I came to them for a filter readjustment. I was denied service for that specific request after being told over the phone it was doable and needed further inspection. I was referred to tuffy auto by ***. When I arrived, I was met with a different narrative and was told that no one would do the filter removal, without an explanation from the mechanics themselves. I was pressured into paying for a new oil change. The employee I spoke to was not knowledgeable about what type of oil belongs in my car. This was apparent once this employee looked up my vehicle and discovered that I was initially correct (about the oil type). They used a manipulative tactic by making it seem like they were giving me a deal by rotating my tires, which was unnecessary at the time. I was taken advantage of due to my situation ( I could not drive anywhere until the oil was contained). Since I had no choice then, I [paid 3 times the average amount for an oil change ($113). My *** membership discount was not honored. I called and attempted to speak to the owner or manager and was never given that opportunity. Instead, I was told to return to their location and have my tires re-rotted. My main complaint is, that my vehicle started shaking in an unsafe manner as soon as I drove on a highway the next day. I was never offered a partial refund or shown any respect for my inquiry.Business Response

Tuffy Tire and Auto Service of *************** is responding to the complaint as a courtesy to the BBB. Mr. ******* complaint has absolutely no merit, and is not based in facts, instead it is merely "noise" he is creating to extort a refund out of Tuffy Tire and Auto of **************** First and foremost, Mr. ****** states in his complaint that he was "denied service". If that is the case, then where does a complaint stem from, and if that is what he was told on the phone by a customer ********************** representative of Tuffy Tire and Auto, then why would he bring his vehicle to our repair shop? Furthermore, Mr. ****** states he was "pressured into paying" yet Tuffy Tire and Auto has a signed estimate and receipt, and NONE of these issues came to light until AFTER Mr. ****** left the shop! I do not know how a free tire rotation is a "manipulative tactic"? It seems Mr. ******* largest complaint is that he was not shown (using his words) : "any respect for my inquiry". Tuffy Tire and Auto does not give refunds because a customer has the perception of being disrespected! That is clearly just a ploy to extract money for services that were rendered. Should Mr. ****** continue to defame this auto repair shop, Tuffy Tire and Auto will seek legal action against him for damages.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: the responce seemed to be persona ratherl than professional. I simply would like a partial refund because i no case would I ever agree to pay $113 for an oil change. I was very specific about my complaint. I came in for a filter adjustment. I was denied THAT specific service. I didn't need a tire rotation. My aaa membership discount was not acknowledged. I only came to tuffy's as a direct referral from ***. t this time, they should be investigating this matter. I had no choice but to get an oil change, to avoid any possible damage to my vehicle, the road, or other drivers. The business admits that the tire rotation was "free" thus, also acknowledging that they over charged me for an oil change, I am respectfully asking, for a partially refund. In regard to the sudden engine shaking, this did in fact start right after being serviced at tudffy's. I shouldn't have to travel (back) to the business, if the services were done correctly and (tested) opun completion. That way any concerns could have been address in real-time. It is typical for a business to deny any wrong doing, mistakes, or unprofessionalism to avoid possible litigation or negative reviews. I'm asking for integrity from the business, not attempting any type of fraud or scams. I would like a formal apology for the suggestions of these claims.
Sincerely,

The customer approved and paid for a synthetic oil change and was charged the appropriate price by all of today's standards, and the oil and filter used on his vehicle were under manufacturer guidelines. Tuffy Tire and Auto has politely responded but will no longer be responding, and the customer has the right to chose another auto facility going forward.Business Response

Some last points, there is no such mechanical service called an "oil filter adjustment" as filters simply need to be replaced per manufacturer guidelines. Secondly, the customer was charged and approved (under no pressure) the synthetic oil change which was priced correctly! The "free tire rotation" is exactly that...free and devoid of any connection to the cost of a synthetic oil change. Lastly, an oil change does NOT produce shaking under any circumstance so that is just yet another complaint with absolutely no merit. Tuffy Tire and Auto Service now concludes this issue, and thanks the BBB for their patience in this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: The businesses' responses were deflective to the facts regarding my initial complaint. They did not show integrity with this situation. No business in ******* or an city i can search online charges more than $50 for an oil change. I specifically noted that the tire rotation is the cause of the vehicle shaking, which is why the responded with a offer to reverse the rotation. Their response were condescending and was an insult to my intelligence. I did not come to the business under my own will, i was referred by ***. My membership discount was not honored. My request for at least a partial refund remains.
Sincerely,

Went to have work done on my car. August 2022 at Tuffys auto center in ******* ******* 1st time. Brakes were the major problem. I asked to check my rotors as well. Had other things done as well irrelevant to this complaint. Car was done i drove away. Week and a half later 2nd time back, my brakes are grinding again and because i am a woman they tell me nothing is wrong! Then im told that the rotors needed to be smoothed out so i had to come back again because the person that does that wasn't there. I bring it back a week later 3rd time now. Smooth out rotors. Week later im back for major grinding 4th time back. Tells me its my ball berrings i said no!! Its my rotors and brakes so now my new brakes from August 2022 are now braking down due to rotors which should have been changed back in August! Im told i had to come back again because its a 3 hour job. Today November 21st 2022 5th time i got up early went to Tuffy's to have all work completed and was told you have to pay for the rotors because you never had them worked on. I said well if you would have done it in August t like i asked for this would not be a problem now! And i had the money then not now. I am so ****** off right now so here i am at 8:13 am leaving again to come back another day to get this fixed and wanted me to pay $180 for rotors that should have been done in August like I mentioned. So i have to go back a 6th time. Ridiculous. Now i have to take money that I really don't have to pay for a thing i needed back then.Business Response

The customer came in with multiple complaints on her old ******* Elantra and Tuffy Tire and Auto of ******* did everything to possibly save this customer money from the onset. In that process we machined the rotors and installed new brakes. Multiple times our technicians drove the car and we could not hear the same noise that her complaint is based on. We warrantied all the pads to gain the customer satisfaction. We have never been able to replicate the noise, but to address the noise she claims our technicians replaced(where originally they were machined) the rotors, and we did not charge any labor on this so for her to complain after the effort we put forth is unacceptable. Lastly, for the customer to say "well she had money at the time, but does not have it now" we have no response as it is not our place to budget a customer's finances. ********************** Tire and Auto of ******* takes great pride in customer satisfaction, and worked diligently to satisfy this customer but it is an old worn car, and the customer seems to neglect that fact
