      MAY 31, 2025/ 2nd July 19/2025 Subject: Request for Information Regarding Consumer Rights and Complaint Against Auto Repair Business I am writing to formally request guidance and assistance regarding an unresolved matter involving a local auto repair business that has retained possession of my vehicle for nearly a year without completing the agreed-upon repairs. On or around June 20, 2024, I entrusted my vehicle, a 2009 ******** Escalade (Black)TO: ***** ****** at MGS Performance- **************************************** (************/************) for repairs that were promised to be completed within three weeks. Despite multiple inquiries and assurances, the vehicle remains unrepaired and in the mechanic's possession as of today, almost twelve months later.He traded electrical work at his home with the co-owner of the vehicle, which was completed in the months that followed in a timely manner, for deductions to the invoice for the repairs on the vehicle. During this time, I have been required to maintain insurance and registration (tags) for the vehicle, incurring ongoing expenses for a car I have not had access to. I am concerned that this situation may constitute a violation of my consumer rights, and I am seeking information on:1. What legal rights and protections do I have as a customer in this situation?2. The appropriate steps to file a formal complaint against this business.3. Whether I may be entitled to a refund, compensation, or legal recourse for damages, including the costs incurred for insurance and registration during this period.4. Any state-specific consumer protection laws or agencies I should contact?I would greatly appreciate any information or guidance you can provide regarding how to proceed, including whether this case may fall under deceptive business practices or breach of contract.Please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
