  On August 6th, 2*** I hired ***** ***** of Wise Guy Carpentry & Home Service LLC, a *************** ***************** license # ************ to build a custom 662 SF deck. The details have been both uploaded and outlined below.Invoice #*** Deck Build Custom deck 662 SF removal/demolition of existing deck replacement of structural *************** footers Add cylinders with poured concrete 16"-24"-in ******* strong tie 2x6 Hangers All underneath material are pressure treated wood & 16" on center with blocking. 2"-in x6" -in x12"ft pt lumber 4"-in x4"-in x8"ft post pt lumber Hurricane tiedowns to be added Weardeck - weather wood is the composite to be used Timber tech railing system- by AZE Radiance-rail Color is Kana/bronze ************************ fees with dump fees and removal "I made my first payment on 08/09/24 for $20,000 (check #****). They did not start on this project until 04/28/25. On 05/09/2025 he said the project was going to be more than he originally stated at which point I gave him an extra $3,600. And then I gave him a $10,000 check for the railing and that is the last time I saw him.***** consistently failed to put in full workdays, which caused significant delays to the project. I was repeatedly forced to follow up to find out when they would show up to work. As it stands, I have paid $33,600 to ***** ***** of Wise Guy Carpentry & Home Service only to have a deck that is still unfinished, and the work that was completed is poorly done, with areas that are not level and of substandard craftsmanship. I have attempted to contact ***** ***** numerous times by phone and email. He has not shown up to the job site since. The job site was left in disarray with debris scattered, and the project incomplete.After giving **** *** Carpentry $33,600 I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and follow-through, and I am requesting appropriate resolution for the incomplete and unacceptable work.

  The initial delays were due to multiple hurricanes that hit between the signing of the contract and the start date as well as permitting issues. We communicated this to the customer and she was understanding. Delays during the job were due to other inclement weather. We completed the deck. The customer was concerned with leveling from one side to the other (the deck is L Shaped). Due to pricing increases with the hurricane from when the project was quoted, we are negative on this project due to increased material cost. The customer did agree to pay some additional costs, but did not want to continue to put anymore additional money. The only thing not completed on her project was the railing and a cut of the overhang. We are willing to complete the cut. The customer has approximately $9,000.00 which she can use to have hand railing installed.

  I understand that the business is willing to waive the final balance so that I can use that to complete the railings. However, despite what the business stated, the deck is not completed and the workmanship is not satisfactory. From the verbal estimates I have received from other companies, I am looking at about $16,000.00 to repair/complete the deck and railings. So in addition to the waiving of the balance, I am seeking a refund of $7,000.00 paid to repair and complete the deck.
