I brought her two dogs to this establishment for a 10 day stay while dealing with some health issues of her own, Both dogs were in good health when entering the facility. Although, one is older and on a couple medications, which were left with the establishment and the dosage instructions. I had had called this establishment twice over the 10 days to check on them and both dogs were reported to be doing fine. Upon pickup, one dog was fine. The older was in dire need of medical attention. She was completely emaciated and completely unresponsive to touch. Literally, clinging to life by a thread as we would find out later. After dropping the dog off at the vet, they later called and described her condition as emaciated, dehydrated with LOW temperature and a blood sugar level of 24. I was told brain damage occurs at under 40. It was also explained that these conditions don't just suddenly occur. It would have been progressive over time. 20 hours later, the dog was pronounced dead. How the staff could be so negligent and ignorant to the condition of the dog is nothing short of astounding. Clearly, I would not recommend that anyone place their beloved pet in the care of this facility.

****** before we explain our side of this story, all of us here want to tell you that we are deeply sorry for the loss of you and your mothers dog. In no way is our explanation of our side of the events that took place trying to negate how we feel about the death of your families beloved dog. You state the dogs are both in good health, then proceed to state that the older one which is in question is "older and on a couple of medications" the dog was 14 years old, that does not constitute as an "older" dog, smaller dogs around 11-12 are deemed as a senior dog, a dog of 14 years old is at the very end of its life. This was your first time visiting our facility, we had no previous interaction with these dogs and nothing to base pre existing behaviors on. The dog in question came to our shop and from the very first day chose to lay around all day which is common for older dogs, and not something we deem as unusual behavior our front end staff treated this dog with the same care we would treat any other dog, time outside every hour, water bowls filled at all times, medication given and marked off appropriately and fed at the allotted times. This dog was given plenty of water since the very first day it was dropped off. We would monitor the water and sometimes fill it up twice in the morning because it had a sibling with it. It went out for all of the breaks, and was simply acting like an older dog on medication. Our shop has been in business for a long time and just like any other facility that deals with animals, accidents happen, dogs can get sick or hurt. We hold a strict policy at our shop that if a dog falls ill at our shop or gets sick under our supervision, the customer is contacted immediately along with a manager to further remedy the situation. If there is ever a direct negligence on our part we take full responsibility and take the proper steps to make sure the dog is safe or taken to a vets office to get the proper care it needs. With this being said your dog acted the same way from the day you dropped off to the day you picked up. For us to be called negligent and ignorant is so far from the truth of how we operate as a business. Unfortunately your dog was taken to us with a pre existing issue and was already on medication for other things. We will not be held responsible for a dog brought to us that needed proper care well before being dropped off at our shop. These kinds of reviews are what can destroy businesses and although this happening is an absolute nightmare, your family has done nothing but threaten our management and owners and proceed to make accusations against our shop that are far from the truth. Our facility did everything in our power to treat your dog with the same standard we treat the thousand of dogs we take care of in our boarding facility every year. These dogs should have been boarded at a veterinarian's office where they are aware of your dog's normal behavior and could have told you right when you dropped off the dogs that something was wrong or abnormal. We are not a vet's office, we administer medication exactly as instructed by the owner but we do not evaluate dogs' health upon drop off if we have never cared for them before. We are under the impression that when the customer drops off their dog they are fully aware of the state their dog is in and will instruct us to look out for any certain behaviors or actions that would dictate something abnormal. Upon drop off a form was signed with the rules and responsibilities of our shop. Once again our family is deeply saddened from this situation and we genuinely wish none of this happened.
