      I purchased a pair of sunglasses at Spectacular Eyecare ******************************************************************* the coating of the lenses. Initially I thought it was something that could be cleaned off but after thoroughly cleaning the lenses realized the surface coating seemed to be coming off.These glasses were not cheap at $321 and I honestly expected a good few years of use from them. They have been very, very lightly used. 2-3 hours a week while driving.The national average lifespan for good quality sunglasses is around 5 years, so after having called Spectacular Eyecare about my sunglasses and to be told I'm out of the 1-year warranty is a disgrace! A pair of $20 glasses come with the same warranty.When purchasing these glasses there was never any mention of problems with the coating and the glasses not lasting more than 2 years. I would never have purchased these glasses if that had been mentioned. I was assured by the salesperson that the sunglasses and other glasses I purchased then were quality glasses from a well-known manufacturer.

      At Spectacular EyeCare we take pride in providing great service to our community. The receipt that the patient provided included an exam and photos. These services are not refundable. We provide a 1-year warranty one time replacement through the manufacture which is included with a frame and lens purchase. ****** ******* has purchased his frames and lenses on 09/15/2023. ****** ******* has also had a remake (due to scratch lenses) on his lenses with the same frame on 11/03/2023. As the glasses are beyond the warranty period, we explained that these frames and lenses are no longer covered. We have offered ****** ******* a 40% off discount for a new frame and lens purchase as a goodwill gesture. Patient declined.We remain happy to assist the patient to take advantage of our great offer.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      Firstly, the lenses were replaced because the sunglasses were unusable! The focal length was incorrect (not scratched as stated) and the lenses had to be replaced.

      Secondly, the $321 I paid for the sunglasses (without the exam and photos) was also after a 40% discount. The original price for the sunglasses was $535. So, the offer of the same 40% discount for a pair of sunglasses that will only last 19 months ****************) is an absolute disgrace.

      If this eyeglass store had the character and honesty, they would ask themselves if they would be happy spending $321 on a product that evidently is NOT worth the money. The numerous other glasses we have purchased from this store have caused no problems whatsoever. The sunglasses have a problem! And the store owner is not willing to accept the facts. SAD.

      We regret that the customer remains dissatisfied. The sunglasses in question were purchased in 09/15/2023 which is beyond the warranty period. Although outside the warranty period, we previously offered a 40% off discount on a replacement pair as a goodwill gesture. In the interest of closure, we are ****** to extend a final goodwill option: a 50% off a complete pair of sunglasses. We believe this is fair and reasonable resolution and respectfully request the BBB close this case. Thank you.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I do appreciate your final offer but even with the 50% discount I can't think of one good reason to spend $560-50%=$280 for glasses that last less than 2 years.

      I would though gladly accept a refund for the offered discount of $280 to bring closure to this sad experience.
