Our review is primarily based on the denial of a major warranty claim by Seagate. Soon after we closed on a home built by Seagate, we experienced significant black staining on the walls and floor of our pool. Within the warranty period, we reported the stains to their Customer Service Director who asked for a chemical levels review (deemed acceptable) and a heater check for rust (none found). Seagate then recommended power washing at our expense, but the stains returned a few months later. In response, Seagate initiated an on-site investigation that included evaluations from four independent pool companies. Three stated the cause as pool surface mottling from improper installation and one cited airborne algae. Logically assuming Seagate would hold its pool subcontractor liable for resurfacing based on the clear majority opinion, we were shocked when they denied our warranty claim citing the outlier algae cause. Despite involvement with an attorney and the BBB, Seagate continued to not take any warranty responsibility for this defect leaving us after several months with a stained pool and a five-figure resurfacing cost. Buyer Beware!
